Overall, this RTR's quality seems pretty good. However, after the first couple of batt packs through it, I noticed I was getting some water in through the driveshaft tube, so I disassembled the drive train and relubed it with some marine grease. The drive shaft was a little corroded and didn't seem to have much lube on it originally, so I polished both shafts before relubing/reassembly. In this process, I also noticed the motor coupler didn't align with the driveshaft very well, it was 1-2mm off, so there was some unnecessary stress on the shaft/tube which would cause some increased friction. I re-aligned this as well, so hopefully the boat will run a little faster now, and not take on as much water through the tube! Hope to run it this evening, so I'll see if my efforts paid off...

I got mine from Horizon Hobby for $139. You can probably get a 700 in there. The existing 550 makes it a little difficult to get a standard stick batt pack in there, so a 700 would make it even harder. The existing motor coupler would have to be replaced to handle the larger 700 shaft (5mm instead of 3.2mm), and I'm sure the motor mount would have to be modified.
I figure I'll probably try a 600 first before trying to cram a 700 in there...

I will do my best, but remember I am not a pro.
As far as tools go, the only special one I can think of is a dremel tool with a cutting wheel for cutting the shaft to size.
I need to know what size the stock shaft is.

Ive got a dremel so i should be good with the tools! So your saying like do a separate prop rudder system? How far of a rudder would i need setback? I need one long enough to clear the prop! I dont think it will be that hard to do. Just remove the rudder that is connected to the prop and just mount on a new rudder that extends far enough back to clear the rudder correct? Correct me if im wrong please

Yes, that would be correct as long as you want it to turn equally boat ways. Or you can put the rudder off to the side but it will turn better one way that the other. You can get the Stock Rudder for the aquajet from offshoreelectrics.com it will work perfect for your application. You only have to clear the prop by 1/4". I was amazed when I saw the aquajet for the first time. The rudder was so close to the prop I thought it would hit for sure. Here is a couple of pics of different set-ups. You are also going to need a longer shaft because the stock one is not going to be long enough.

thanks guys,
I have a spare 700 that i dunno what to do with so i just wanted to drop that in. Sounds like the boat is too small for that size anyway!

Thanks wheelnut! So now a longer prop shaft, and a rudder long enough to clear the prop? Any other parts i will need to complete this? Also i wanna upgrade to a medal prop, would the x440 but a good one over stock and how many blades? Im thinking a rudder like [link=http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/proddetail.php?prod=ros-mini-rud]this one[/link] with the 2 inch setback or [link=http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/proddetail.php?prod=ros-rud-dualpu]one like this[/link]with a 2 inch setback. Im thinking the first one will be best. I want my boat to turn equally both ways, so i will mount it behind the prop! Also do you think some turn fins would be necesseary for stock? Im gonna run this boat stock for a while with electronics anyways! Well thanks in advance!

I don't think that rudder will be set back far enough at 2" and 4" seems like too much. The aquajet rudder titled
Product ID: ose-bj10-bj11
Rudder with standoff bracket
$8.99
is set back 2 1/2" and seems to be perfect for the application.
As far as props go you will have to do some experimenting. Start off with the stock prop and see how she runs and what the temps are like, Then prop up from there. Turn fins are not necessary but can help the ride of the boat out alot and they can be had pretty cheap.

Also i got my charger today! I was gonna do a test charger on my IB1400 Ni/Mih 2/3a pack! I got through all the steps except the mV thing i dont know what that is and how i should set it. Can you please explain this to me or tell me what to set it on for the battery pack listed above? Also i reccomend this charger for anyone that is using 1-8 cells! It is a awesome charger and it even makes music! Lol

You are going to need to measure how long the shaft needs to be. How does your shaft connect to your motor now?
On my charger, I just select the number of cells and the mah's and how many amps I want it to chager at.

Ok ill have to take pics and post those up while i do it so you can tell me how far back i need it.[:-]I dont know how it is connected to the motor as its been 1week 2days since i orderd from diversion hobbies....they say they will email me but the dont, they dont reply to emails or anything.....i called them and they said "we will ship out tommorow and we will email you"....I dont get a email and i call them back and they say the same thing[:@]Dont ever order from diversionhobbies! Also i read the manual and it says we reccomend 6mv for nicids and 8mv for nimihs, it just affects peak charging, like the higher you set it the more it will get your battery pack to its fullest potetional (something like that)

My charger defaults to 5mV per cell for the negative delta-V cutoff limit... that means it monitors the voltage, senses the peak voltage, and continues to charge until it reaches -30mV below that peak (for a 6 cell pack), and then shuts off.

The 3600's should be great for this boat.
Call them back and cancel the order. They are pulling your leg. They don't have it in stock, that is what the problem is.

Man that sucks, do they have that information posted clearly on their site? I would tell them off if I were you. It is not right that people sell stuff that they don't have in stock. Most sites these days don't charge you until the item ships. I think you should start a thread about their site and their sucky policies.
