Default BlackJack dialed in

I caught a lucky break in the weather today. Some wind of course because I had the chance to run. I am happy to report that a winning combination has been found for the BlackJack. Seem the SpeedMaster strut along with an offset Aquacraft rudder works well. Turning to the right is smooth and predictable. To the left takes a little more care but is stable also. She tracks straight and the oscillations are gone. On 14 cells she got 31mph and on 16 33.1. Temps where low. More pitch and diameter can be handled easy the 45mm was a mild setup to say the least. Add lipos and I bet 40 is possible. I think the opening for the steering linkage can be enlarged just a tiny bit to free up rudder movement. But the high torque servo is more than up to the task. I think she is right @ home with 35. She is fun, fast and attractive if I may say. After 3 months I can finaly say..BUILD COMPLETE .

Looks good! Also looks like the hull can handle alot more speed. I'd bet 45-50 isn't out of the question.

Great Video.. Nice lake too.
Any thoughts on changing the prop to put a little more speed into her?
The rooster tail looks good, like your putting the power into the water and not above. Looks like it's dialed in...

That looks much better. Much more stable and good attidue, too.

Here's some food for thought.

My son's 38"/7lb mono on 16 IB4200's with a SS1 brushed motor runs 31.9 consistanly.
My 29" Mean Machine runs 33.6 on his 16 cell packs....sounds kind of familiar, eh?

The Mean Machine has been 53.5 to date on 6s............ Not sure what motor/esc your running. I know it's here somewhere, but it's late and I'm too tired to search, but if it'll go 6s.... consider it!!!

Thanks OC. I'm running a 12XL. I have an 11XL on the bench. Before I try that a 48mm prop is going to be applyed. Also I had forgot to grease the cable and shaft. That may have hurt speed some. I am prepaired to drop as low as a 9Xl to get more rpm. If I cant hit 40 after all that..Then I will be To Mr Hill about some lipos. An esc upgrade will have to be done also. I am running a Hex 120 now. 20v max. As for handeling...a quantum leap. All I want is 40 out of her. Anything over that is to much for the hull...IMO.

Hi SouthJerseyFe, maybe im missing something here, but with 14cells your boat running 31 mph, so its run slower than a stock SV27??? your boat got more torque motor, more cells and also your hull is not much heavier than a sv hull, please explan that for me if you can.

Yeah sure I'll explain it. Lets take a look @ the larger picture here. We will start with your reference to the SV. That package had a team of designers (who where givin money and material) witch worked on it for over a year and tested it countless times. Not witch all where sucesfull I bet. Now lets look @ Me. I by myself using my imagination working at my dinning room table Oh and lets not forget using my own money....Took a hull designed to use a nitro engine and run a steerable outdrive...in only 3 months pieced together a working hardware, electronic and water cooling combination..Further more the 3rd time it hit the water I broke 33mph.

So I don't know what you want me to explain? It would seem to me you are trying to point out I waisted my time and money. If I must offer an explaination why this boat didn't do 45mph within 3 runs...well I would say I'm not a pro builder with 15 or 20 years of racing experince. I'm just a guy who wanted to have a little fun and build somthing diffrent...it don't really matter that a SV out of the box it faster. Thats not the idea.

that is not my point at all, i always thought those Feigao XL is much more powerfull than stock SV motor, i expected to hear something from your explan to me about diff between BJ hull and SV maybe or maybe i didnt know something about your project, i also know for us to build a fast electric its depend to alot of things like, prop size, match motor, match cell, esc..etc... just want to hear and learn something from everyone here cus my next project gonna be exactly the same power system.
If you want to talk about team work here let me tell you this, if you hang me a more powerfull motor, beter esc and more cells # than another guy or BIG TEAM i dont care, i can guarantee you 100% then my boat will go FASTER than them, at least on the straight line, if we use same size of hull, and its not hard at all, AND you dont need that 15 or 20 years of experience to do that, everyone can do that.

A 12XL or 11XL is around 1400RPM/V. On 14 cells that will be around 19600RPM. A SV motor is 1800RPM/V giving about 21 000RPM. Both these motors produce nearly the same horsepower on 14 cells vs 12 cells of the SV but the SV outputs more RPM.

What are you trying to say? What you said is VERY obvious!

that exactly i expected to hear from SouthJerseyFe, explaning to me diff between sv motor and XL or something, my point is not about waising money or time, not even close, and i dont think my question is obvious at all, just because he is so sensitive person i guess, hopefully you dont have that hight blood pressure problem SouthJerseyFe

Ryan, where are you getting this info? I have never seen any DEFINITIVE specs on the SV motor. We're building some SV powered 24" hydro's down here that are running consistant and stable 40 mph laps. I sure would like to clear the air on the specs for my own personal info. I'm of the understanding that it is somewhere are the 14-15 turn (1650kv) "L" size brushless arena. Am I in the wrong ball park?

This is what Pagemaster from OSE and I worked out. It should be around 1650-1800.

Hey Jersey, It's all good. I've met Kev personally and the misconception here is more of a language barrier and the fact that he thinks and talks about 30,000 RPM. He's a good guy and his question actually "inquesitive" and not derogatory! Don't worry though, I would have gotten the same impression, too if I didn't know him. You should see his M-1. It's nice and is going to be a beast, but he's got a reeeeaaaaallly good coach helping him out in Jim Vaughn(numorous IMPBA/NAMBA records).

Comunication of attitude and intent are next to imposible via text. Even when spoken some times. I'll openly addmitt in reference to the Jack I can get toutchy. So many hours and quite a bit of cash. Kev I apologise for jumpin on ya. Ryan thanks for the suport.
Funny thing is I had to sell the Jack to pay for the MM and Maus Bullet build I am doing now. I wish I had the money to keep every thing and build a huge collection. But it's not posible....Yet.
It's all good,
Tom

I am in the same boat (pun intended) I have sold every boat I have had, well almost. I have managed to hang on to my Aquacraft Profisherman, SV27 and a Nitro Hammer I am trying some projects on. But money is even holding that project back[&o]

A motor can only output a certain amount of power depending on what it's input is. You can have the biggest badest motor out there and a SV motor can be more powerful then it. It all depends on the amount of power you feed it. Do you understand what I'm trying to say, I don't want to have to throw numbers at you.
