Brushless boy ....
KV of 6900 X 12 volts is 82,800 RPM . Theres no prop you can turn , you'll just make smoke.

Fast guy , Are you running 8 E moli cells ?What kind of voltage are you getting out of them.
Im just finishing a TS 2 , REK lower like yours , 8XL, CC 125 esc and 4S1P TP extreme 5000 Lipo.
Sealer is drying on the radio box. Should have it running next week. Neat job on the cowling. I like it. Not sure it will cover a XL motor .

Yes, I'm running E moli cells. Two 2s2p 6000ma packs in series to make 14.8 volts. They are 8.4 volts each pack at full charge. Do you have any pics of your boat yet? The 4s1p TP extreme 5000 lipos are way lighter than the E molis and the the XL motor is heavier than the SuperVee motor so I was wondering where you put things to keep the hull balanced. My boat just flies, your boat is going to be balistic. Any idea what prop your going to try? I could squeeze a 70mm motor into my motor cowling so a XL would be a tight fit.

My radio box is 16" long , I can move the CG from 27% to 31% I didnt cut the hull , the radio box sets on the deck and steps up on the tank mount. Lipo in front ,servo just in front of the tank mount , esc on the tank mount.
I may cut into the hull later. I'd like to put some foam in the hull in case I get a hole in a collison .
No Pix yet.
I'll probably start with a 440. An X 642 calculates to about 48 mph. I'll watch the temps and see what happens.
I have 3 SV27 power combos. they really work good for sport running :-)

Post some pics when you can. I really like mine compared to my SuperVee. The outboard makes the boat look so real and turn so nice that I just can't leave it alone. It even sounds kinda real. I did a build thread with more pictures on the Offshore Electric's forum. [link=http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=853]Check it out.[/link]

Fast Guy
How did you seal around the motor wires out of the radio box ? Just silicone or ?

I used a rubber grommet used for putting wires through a fire wall and silicone.

Hey Fast Guy what kind of lower unit mount are you using? Ive got a fullers lower already but the mount it came with is plastic and I noticed yours is metal.

I ran mine today. Albuquerque is in the Desert. Not a lot of choices for water. The city boat pond is 300' X 150'
As soon as it took a set and accelerated , I ran out of pond and had to turn.
I was running it with a 9XL and a X642 3 blade. Motor was not cooled and it ran hot , 153 deg .
THen I tried an X440 3 blade. 104. Ambient temp was probably in the mid 90s
I'll get water cooling on it tomorrow.

Looks like it has potential .

Good news Flyguy55. It took me some time to get mine set up properly. I found with the smaller SuperVee motor I had to run with the motor higher than the manual suggests to get the motor to really wind out. It also took a little positive thrust angle to get the hull to dry out and get good top speed. What speed control and batteries are you running?

Typo , First I ran a X642 2 blade.

Castle Creations Phoenix 125 amp esc ( stick Radio ) 4S1P TP extreme 25C 5000 mah.
I ran nitro tunnels for 20 yrs , experience helps.
It worked good , I needed more pond :-)
I may get to run it with some nitro tunnels this weekend on a 1/6 mile course.
I'll know more then .

Hi TS2 fans
Race report
Sat morning in open water I ran the TS2 with an X642 prop and the 9XL.
I ran a couple laps on the 1/6th mile course and it was looking very good.
My son got his radar gun and asked for a couple passes straight towards him.
44 mph .
The lipos were 153 deg and motor was 139
After a vote I was allowed to run with the Stock 3.5 OPC class. there were 5 other boats , 2 lynx , 2 TSs and and old Dumas Sprint that ran very well.
I raised the motor 1/8" as center of the propshaft was level with the bottom of the sponsons thinking it woukd reduce the load on the motor and reduce , lipos might runn cooler.
I didnt have time for a test run before the first heat,
Prop was too high , torque rolled upside down before the start.
Lowered the prop back where it was for the second and it was competitive fast . Lipos came in hot , 185 deg after 3 laps , upside down again.
I put lipos over on the BBQ to cool just in case , but they recovered OK
Third heat I tried an X442 , still hot. 163 . Dumped it again
forth heat I tried a X440/3 blade. Gusty wind and I blew it ober on the back stretch after recovering from a spin out. It wasnt handleing good at all.

Sunday I was allowed to race with the 3.5 Mod. OPCs.
We decided to try a X337/3 blade because the Lipos were still running too hot at over 160 after a couple laps.

It was a little slower with the 337 , but temps looked good in open water , and handleing was good , wot all the way around the course. ( sorry , no radar)

6 mods today 3 yellow TS3s ( my friends is MAC powered )plus a red one , the Lynx , Dont remember the other one.

The first heat I came from mid pack at the start and won going away.
Second heat 2 boats crossed right in front of me at the start line and the rooster tail and or wakes dumped me.
I started way back and wide the 3rd and 4th heats and finished second both times . The last heat I was gaining on the Lynx the last 2 laps , greatr fun.
I dont think they will they me run with the stock OPC any more LOL.
I took some pix , have no idea how to post them . When I have time , maybe I'll send them to Fast Guy and have him post them.

BTW , I couldnt quite finish 8 laps - the mill lap , 6 laps racing ( 1 mile) and another lap back to the pits with my 5000 mah Lipos before before low V cutoff.
I'm sure the heat and cutoff was not good for the Lipos.

Way to go Flyguy55[8D]. Those nitro guys are going to wish they never saw a electric TS2. A little more fine tuning and you'll be watching all the other boats in your rear view mirrors.

You can upload you pics to this site or use a pic host site such as PhotoBucket and link the pics to your post like I do.

I think one of the reasons I'm having lipo heating issues is thy fit very snuggly in there part of the radio box.
not much airspace.
I'm going to make a new box , a little longer , cut into the hull. I'll fill the inside of the of the hull with pool noodle foam, and make as much airspace as I can around the Lipos .

I asked them not to count my point as those guys are running for season championships, I'm just lucky i could run with them.
But at the annual meeting I'll see of I can be included in the class for next season.
Great fun though :-)

Now I'm looking for a 4S rigger to run in 3.5 hydro grin . I'm already building a P mono :-)

I like the pics Flyguy. What kind of motor mount are you using? Are you using two 4s1p packs in parallel or just one? I kinda wish I made my battery-radio box a little bigger after seeing yours. What did the other racers think of your boat?

I don't know who made the mount. I was told only a few were made , not available any more.
It came on the lower unit when I bought it on the net.

I think they were impressed Sun . I didn't impress anyone Saturday. I race nitro with some of them for over 20 yrs. about half were new to me.
I hadn't raced RC boats for 15 yrs, Im very rusty.

I am using a TP 5000 4S1P...... thats all that fits . Next box will be lots bigger.
