Default brushless sucks

brushless is frustrating me because i just got into it but i dont know anything about the differet things. if i wanted to run ~29volts what would be a good setup. i saw the fiagao motors and the xl looked like a good choice but which turn do i use and what esc do i use? i wanted to run twin motors, will they run about the same speed? at that voltage would twin be good for a 41inch cat? and what size prop would that turn?

any info you want to share on brushless motors is welcome here. and i dont really think brushless sucks.

I'm in the same boat as you (although I wouldn't say brushless sucks) I don't understand motor sizes in terms of power/rpms power usage... & Judging from my SV27 boat motors are much much larger then RC car/truck motors...

Brushless motor are rated in similar terms to the brushed motors.

Kv - is the amount of RPM the motor will produce from 1 volt with no load. A larger value means more RPM's from a given voltage at the loss of torque.

A 540 motor represent the can size. A 540L motor is about 61mm long where as an XL motor is 72mm long. The SV motor is 56mm long and would be best classified as a 540S. All 540 size cans are 36mm in diameter and have 25mm bolt spacing c to c. The larger the motor the more torque the motor produces. Again it will be at a loss of RPM when comparing turns.

If you wanted to run a Feigao motor on 29v or 24 cells, I would recommend the 540 14XL. I haven't ever ran this setup so I would recommend starting with a 40mm prop and then working your way up.
This setup will not be a rocket in a 41" hull, I personally would go with a single Lehner motor. But then we are talking high coin.

now lets say i wanted to push a 30" cat with 2 540 fiagaos with a 3cell lipo for each, which motor would i want? and maybe which size prop should i start with.

really. i'm pretty sure it wouldn't be a great esc. they blow up on 20 cells if you over amp them a bit. and that is what they are rated for .
24 cells is out of the question.
what you need are come castle creations HV110 esc. HV standing for hi voltage. or you could try the shulze 40.160

You really should think how you title your thread. That's not what this is about. Brushless is virtually why this part of the forum is here. How about "I don't understand brushless". or "any brushless help?". This isn't the first one. Many of these threads are improperly named. The purpose of the title is so you know what you are going to read about.

HAHA, yes thanks it's edited. I'm at work and not thinking 100%. [] Maybe I should agree with the title. If you over do anything it's always lost money.

This forum is fantastic but if you want in-depth discussion on BL motors, batteries and ESC's, go to www.rc-monster.com
That's the place to go for these types of questions.

540 6XL -9XL. I'd still start with a 40mm prop and a CC125. The 6Xl is pretty hot and tends to draw high amounts of current.
