Hi all! After some looking around I decided to build a hydro. Not the usual run of the mill hydro. This one is 6" long! Made from 2mm Depron, .25 Durabatics and some cheap packaging foam(will change to EPP). Weighs in at 4grams without electronics.

This was just a test build. I will build another more precise.

Wow... That is awsome... well not yet once It runs. What motor do you plan on puting on it? How will you water proof the electronics?
Anyways... looks cool!

if you cover that with really thin ply and then take it to your local vaccum former (Theres on in my school) you could make a pretty nice hull... I did this with a tunnel hull and it was not bad, untill it was stolen when i was driving it, these guys drove towards it on thier fishing boat and then took a net and took the darn thing. It only went 15 mph so a fishing boat could catch up to it in no time and get it....for that thing i actullay used zigzag parts and a really small prop i took off toys....

If it were me, I'd run a Speed 180 on a brushed air ESC of about 5A. I'd also use a micro receiver with a micro servo. For a prop I would cut down one of the 1" Dumas .049 to around 20mm and finally toss a 7.4v LiPo 300-640mAh to top it off. Even with a 180, space will be tight.

Ok, I know I've seen it somewhere, give me a minute to look around online.
I've owned a 6 inch boat before, and I know it came with a spare prop, the whole kits were like 29.00. I think they were made by Megatech or a knockoff similar to Megatech.
It was a little red speedboat with a rudder and everything, it would be a perfect set of electronics for you to begin with. Let me see if I can fint it again when I get off work.

Hi guys, Thanks for the great comments. This is just an experiment for my new productline I hope to release in a few months. I will have mostly 1/64 rc cars, but boats and planes are on the list too. I have a private elecs designer designing both IR and RF radio systems for the cars, boats and planes. The RXs will be no bigger that 1/2"x1/2" and weigh no more than 1 gram. Most likely the motors will be either 7mm corless motors or a N20 size. Powered with a 3.7v lipo. Testing hasnt begun, but will soon enough. I have alot of things being designed/built at 1 time trying to release all at one time. Combine that with time with my wife and kids= slow progress. I try to get into the shop everyday, but Im sure you guys know how it goes. I have also designed a Tunnel Hull, based off of some free plans on the web. I used the plans to get general proportions of the boat, but not at all an exact copy!

This one is about 5.5 inches long. Hows it look so far? Still need to do the outboard.

They make motors very small. I believe the pager motors are around 4mmX8mm and weigh just over a gram. The micro airplane guys use anything from 4mm-12mm and N-20's as well.

I am one of those avid plane guys!
Boat kits might be as cheap as 10-15.00. Depends on how I produce them.
Thanks for the comments guys,

15 dollars for a boat kit sounds excellent. What scares me is the price of a hobby grade micro radio system. $150+ easily.
I'm still wanting to see this micro outboard. Have you been able to get any of the boats wet yet?
