If you need to ask about any of that, you're not going to be breaking any records. How many years of experience in R/C boats do you have?

Sport Hydro has hit upwards of at least 80mph.

well i have a lot of brains in rcs mostly monster truck and the stampede. but 2 weeks ago i wanted something eles and living in mn with 10,000 lakes i wantted to start boating. and now i am planing to buy my first boat , a miss bud. so i don't no alot about the hulls and props and stuff but got plenty when i comes to power systems. and radios. my idea is in rc trucks if you get a low kv motor, with high rpm limits, and alot of volts to get to that limets. and that means tons of touque. and you can gear up, or in this case have a wild picth.

Your gonna need alot of knowledge of Props, Blue Printed Hulls and Water Dynamics if your going to bust any speed records.

Boats are different to Monster trucks in the fact that it is not necessarily the RPM of the Motor that translates into speed..

Yes, the more power you put in to any R/C vehicle or anything for that matter, the more potential for speed. It's that simple.

People just don't walk in to a new part of the hobby and crush world records. It takes decades of experience to do so, experimenting with many prototypes.

Do you plan to build this 1/12 hull from scratch. Is it going to be fiberglass or wood?

what kind of set are you going to use to break it
how many cells ?
just a FYI a 6 cell boat ( 7.2 volts) will do 93mph and pull in excess of 300 amps
and thats a hydro

just remember more volts doesn't equal more speed.

No you didn't. You said a 1/12 Scale Miss Bud Hydro. And you still didn't answer my question. There's many 1/12 scale bud hulls out there either scratch built or assemble from a kit. Which hydro are you purchasing?

Just to let you know, record-setting of any kind with any boat is no easy task. If it were that simple, we'd all have our names in the record books.
Any boat going for a record has to have every piece on it modified for speed and light weight. I know of one guy that went as far as removing the mounting tabs off the servos just to help save 1/10 gram!
