If your mini's all hopped up you not a complete noob. Also says you want to go fast. In addition to the villian, there's the Supervee, The new electric blackjack and also from proboat they have a brushed apache comming out that's dieing for a brushless upgrage. All are bigger and faster. Just depends on what you want and alot on where you run.

I believe you'll find that the SuperVee27 is arguably the "best" beginner boat. Not as fragile as the Traxxas junk (sorry, no comparison), it outperforms them out of the box - it is as close to a real racer as you can buy; in fact they were run in sanctioned classes at this year's Electric Nationals. It comes with BL power too, no more old skool brushed stuff. They can be found new or used. You will not be disappointed.

Depends on your wallet too. You are looking a 450 to 500 for an SV or Brushless BlackJack including support equipment. The Apache will run you 150 or so delivered with another 100 in brushed motor & esc upgrades or 160 for a SuperVee power system...Witch just don't make sence with the Bl BJ being 300. Unless you like having something diffrent and enjoy tinkering that is. It's all about your budget & taste in hulls. Personaly I like Cats.

LOL! I just wrote a paragragh on this topic and my windows shutdown. Have the Villian but have an s vee 27 on the way. If you get the Villian you will be wanting more in a week and it takes alot to modify it for more speeds. Villian is abs hull with cheap hardware and a brushed engine no water cooling and the S Vee 27 is a fibeglass hull, better hardware, brushless, water cooling and it takes little for excellent speed.

Whatever you do, S Vee 27 or BlackJack don't get the Villian.

Brushless is a way better way to go!

Oh in my debate above i forgot to mention the S vee 27 is only 20 to 30 dollars more than the villian depending on where you go.

Question, what is the next step after Noob or Newbie? Is it Boob? lol!

Here is some of the little mods i found to get some speed out of the Svee 27 brushless. Whats nice is you don't have to tear out the engine to do so.

Aquacraft SuperVee 27
Entire bottom scuffed with red scratch pad (Menards, Lowes, etc)
One thin cote of Pacer Z-Poxy Finishing Resin on all wood parts (#PT-40)
SS trim plate’s .5deg positive to the bottom of the hull
Strut set at 0deg
Rudder blade tucked full under (stock shear bolt)
DTX 3800s (two 6 cell packs)
Added turn fin to the port side (AQUB7882)
Octura X-440/3 prop (bag)
Top speed… 38MPH (note: the wind blows almost all the time here, typically our water is loose)

That’s it.. does not sound like much and to tell you the truth its not.. The SuperVee is very complete and it takes very little effort to get it really singing, Enjoy.

One of my Boats the villian you should not buy!

Hey jersey, I know you converted a nitro BJ to electric so you know what you're taking about. Yes I would want something differnt. Plus I think the apache looks like a shallower tunnel. I always felt the BJ's were too deep. I don't run in that rough of water so I want to stay shallow and fast. I'm a little research deficient on the dimentions. Just going by looks. I'd like to overpower an apache much like putting a 460 in a pinto

The basic set-up will keep someone semi new to hobby entertained for little bit like the sv 27 or blackjack. You don't have to modify it all at once...
