Default Sport boat project?

Just won an old vintage Dumas SK-Daddle flat bottom, crackerbox style finished boat on eBay, and was thinking it would be cool with some high voltage and a large/low cost brushed electric motor! The boat is 36" long, and the beam is 14". I saw a guy run the Dewalt 18 volt hammer drill motor in a 1/4 scale crackerbox, with decent results.

So, which low cost motor and ESC would be best?

Personally I would check out UH, but that's because I've had nothing but great deals on stuff from them. It takes longer if outta stock but they have a ton of motors and esc for great prices, so if your not in a rush, check them out. Motor wise stick with something 1600-1800rpm/v brushless with around 40-50amps would make your boat scream on 12-14 cells.

I was wrong, ended up getting the smaller SK-Daddle Too. So it's only 27" long with a 11" beam. Now I'm thinking a discarded (eBay?) SV27 brushless setup would work perfect for it.

SV power would work well.

As in "cheap" how much are you looking to spend on a hull ?

I was really just looking for a "Sport Boat", and not a modern speed demon, race worthy boat. That's why I went the cheap, eBay route.

It all depends on what you want, do you want nitro/gas or FE. Check out Zippkits.com, They seem to have some reasonably priced wood kits. I was thinking of building one myself. Don't go too cheap and watch out for the really cheap imitations on E-bay. Some of them look like copies of brand name better build boats.
good luck

I actually have my hull, it was the other "thread stealer" that was wanting to get a project started. I do need a reliale, cheap drivetrain though, electric would be best.
