Default SUPER V 27 with 5s LIPO

Has anyone ever done this? I seen a video on Youtube of a Super V 27 using one 2s and one 3s LIPO packs...fastest stock Super V 27 I have seen. The stock ESC is rated at 18 volts so using one 7.2 and one 11.1 volt packs addes up correctly? I think he also used a different prop. I will try to post video soon.

That sounds sick. You may be pushing the edge with five cells you will need a BEC for sure. Lets see this!

Also in the video, it shows the boat has nothing stock, a hydra 120 esc and a feigao 9XL.

Will the stock boat be OK using on 5s LIPO (18.4 volts). I know it will run on 14 nimh cells (18.4 volts)

This is the proof that a stock SV27 is slow , this is how they should run and the hull seems more then capable of handeling the extra speed.

I think the stock Brushless Super Vee if set up correctly using 5s LIPO and good prop would be far from slow, but can it's 18 volt ESC handle 5s lipo?

I doubt it. Alot of that performance can be attributed to that motor (although I don't know where you guys are getting your info about that boat). I'd say the weak point is the ESC. It may hanldle the 5s for a while but not too long. To get what you see in that vid you need to flow more amps. For that you need that motor and with the motor you need the speed control. That said that boat handled really well. Amazingly well. I watched the video of the one that was below it (nice contrast) set up horible at realistic speeds. Great video.

Look at the video and where it says who made the vid ( on the right side of screen) it lists what is in the boat

"about this video

Sv27 with feigao 9xl hydra120 octurax442 " and the lipo setup is in the title.

it's not in the comments. or at least you dont have to scroll down at all. [sm=72_72.gif]
