Default IB4200 issue

I can not seem to get my new IB4200 to charge. If I keep connecting it to the prophet plus eventually it will take. The real problem is when I use it in my SV27 Brushless it gets 200 degrees after a good run the other battery (which is the same type) only gets to around 125 degrees. Any suggestions? Is it just a faulty battery? Any help will be great.

Since they are used in series I would think the hot battery wasn't charged up all way. It may not be a faulty battery, but may have sat or be very imbalanced. It should be charged at c/10 (420 ma) for 15 hrs to balance and form the cells.

I HAVE TRIED AT 4, 2, AND 1. IT WILL CHARGE EVENTUALLY, JUST HAVE TO KEEP DOING IT. tHE ONE BATTERY AT 110 DEGREES OR SO AND THE OTHER AT 200 DEGREES WORRIES ME.

That should worry you. You may have already hurt the hot one. Any wrapper melting?, fluid discharge from the + end of any cells?, espanded cells? If so you are in trouble. Are they side by side or stick config? If side by side, you can check the individual voltage of each cell. If one is dead it will show voltage after a charge and look pretty good, but after you put a load on it for a while, I'm guessing a minutes worth of use in an SV, it will probably bottom out. Are all the cells that hot? That hot one is definately discharging further, or starting lower to begin with. Are you charging them at the same time? Maybe you should do a minimum amp forming charge on each individualy. (0.1-0.4) lower is better. Also check the voltage before you start. If one is much lower than the other put it on and hit it with like 3 amps for a minute. This will bring the voltage up to where it should be for most chargers to recognize the proper number of cells. Then do the forming charge (low amp). This will take like 12-14 hours). turn off your trickle if you can. Can you monitor how many Mah they take? You should log that until you get out of the woods.

I just re read this and it really rambles but it should give you some idea.

What kind of charger are you using?

Sounds like a dead cell. Measuring the voltage under load after a C/10 charge and comparing them with the other cells will confirm this.
