Balance Point of Super Vee 27
After reading a tread about the balance point of the Super Vee 27 I learned a good balance point is 8" forward (30%) of transom using 6 cell NIMH packs. For some to achieve this they had to move their 6 cell battery packs forward 2". With my lighter weight Lipo batteries I will have to move them a rediculous amount forward to achieve this. Would it be Ok to use stick on wheel weights to balance boat at the 8" mark?

I'll write what I suggested in that post:
you should be able to get the balance point right by placing the lipos so the frontmost part is even with the endbell of the motor.
weights work too, but aren't really necessary IME...unless it's crazy choppy or it's rough race water...depends on which prop you are using as well.

How will the boat handle using the lighter weight Lipo's compaired to the heavier 7 cell nimh. Will weight need to be added?

I thought the the stock location for the batteries was the best balace point????

I've removed the stock holders.
The SV handles better with batteries further forward. A general guideline for me is front of NIMH packs - even with motor mount, front of Lipos - even with endbell.

It all depends on other variables...prop, water conditions, tab settings, how many turn fins, size of turn fins, whether you are racing ovals or turning left...
as noted in other threads...tape your hatch every time or you will regret it.

with no other adjustments...faster & more loosey-goosey. more prone to blow-overs and barrel-rolls.
