Default SV27 Help!!! Best way to remove paint

I have tried to sand down and prime a nasty paint job on my SV27. I'm using lacquer paints from testor and a monokote white primer. I am about ready to call it qutis and buy another SV27 but I thought I'd get some help before I spend another $300. I was thinking of using paint thinner but I wasn't sure of the damage it would do to the hull. The thing is, the paint job I had before get eatens by the the primer and makes a runny mess. Any opinions on how to get a blank canvas so that I can start fresh? []

Sand it very smooth to base coat, prime, wet sand using 600 grit paper, and then apply lacquer top coat.

Thanks. I'll give it a shot. I'd hate to fork out another $300 but this boat is awesome! Hopefully it works
