difference between "AA" and "C" cells
Hi
I was at the local Canadian Tire waiting for my brother to find a new alarm clock and found myself staring at Energizer NiMH rechargeable batteries. I noticed that the "AA" cell batteries had a 2450MaH rating, the "C" cell batteries were 2450 MaH as well and the "D" cell batteries were 2500 MaH. So, I am wondering what is the point of getting heavier and more expensive "D" or "C" cells when the "AA" cell delivers just as much as the "C" and a little less than the "D" and weighs much less as well?

AA can't deliver the high current. You want a short, fat cell for higher current applications.
Also, 2450 C cells (or Sub-C) are ancient technology. Now we get 4800's in the same format.

Most C cells are 5000 and D are up to 10,000 mah. The AA is the package that gets the most capicity for the weight/size and many do not hold up very well. (they are up to 2700+)

It's a rip off, a "C" size cell should be much heavier,have much more capacity and be capable of delivering much higher currents, but a lot of the larger sized cells found in the big stores are of similar weight, similar capacity and have similar current delivery capability to "AA"s, it is not because they are older technology or anything reasonable like that, but they are just AAs inside a plastic C or D sized shell with a high price tag.

i don't know,but i've always understood it as an AA batt may have 2400 mah but at let's say it delivers a 20 amp stream, a c size batt with 2400 mah with a 60 amp stream, and a d batt with 2400 mah will deliver a 100 amp stream. please understand that these figures are ignorance fed.

For the next month whenever your in a store that sells batteries pick up a pack of "D" cells and feel how much they weigh some will weigh a lot and some will be suspiciously light by comparison don't buy a pack to see what there made of as we don't want these people to have our money but if you accidentally run over a pack with your trolley the hollow plastic shell will bust open and you'll see the AA inside, "C"s have less space between the plastic shell and the AA so the shell can flex until it hits the AA then spring back consequentially they are much harder to bust open.
