Hi all, for the last couple of weekends i have been running and setting up my 25" mono.
I have found that it likes a bit of weight up front so i am running a single 4s 14.8v lipo.
(This is a zippy 5000mah 25c) and it runs very well indeed clocking 51mph on my gps,
however after 5 or 6 mins flat out it, cuts out, so i bring it in and the 4mm bullet connectors
have de-solderd them selves this keeps hapening, and im not sure why. nothing else gets hot
esc lipo all cool even the motor is only warm.
The motor and esc are from the ul1 superior, its running an octura x440/3 prop. I have 4mm
bullet connectors in my sv27 on 4s and this dosent happen, so could it be where its a 4s pack
instead of 2 x 2s packs in series, making it get to hot? or would deans connectors be better?
the cable on the 4s pack is 10g so thats a lot thicker than on the esc witch i think is 14.
Cheers

Last time i will say it GET RID OF 4mm CONNECTORS and use 5.5mm ones.
There, thats it, I've had it, not saying it anymore AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!! Meds...?[sm=spinnyeyes.gif]
4mm connectors were tested many moons ago to have a higher resistance than 3.5mm bullets. Jeorge, the first guy to break a SAW record of over 100 mph for electric did tests that showed 4mm connectors to be very poor, next bestter was 3.5mm, then 5.5mm, the Deans I think but, they are limited to 80 amps I think.

Ok thanks guys the first thing im going to do is look for a better iron, im thinking 100-150 watt, the
one im using at the mo is only 20 i think so this could be half the problem.
Did you get your 5.5 bullets from the uk nick 30? i have found some on ebay from the usa but could be
a while getting here what with the volcano dust etc.

it seems to me that your solder joints weren't up to the task. Use good quality rosin core solder, and a big 100W+ soldering iron, whit a large heat which helps to accumulate some heat. Otherwise you will make weak solder joints, meaning resistance.

Use 5.5 or 6mm bullets and your problems will be over, and you'll get more useable power as well. Deans are good for up to 60A; I believe 5.5 bullets are good to 100A or better.
