it can be done through the tx, but i find it much easier to use a program card, you can get an esc that use's a usb stick but this means you have to haul around a laptop to change any values thats why i prefer a program card

i cant find out what esc you have so could you tell me pleaes so i can advise on usb stick or program card

i use a program card for my turnigy esc's, i use the blue v2 box and have had no heat issues, but then i only use one batt for power when doing this otherwise all my boats use 2 batts

thats happened to me with a 120a turnigy aswell but it was'nt down to the program card, it was the components inside that went wrong, it may just have been the same with your friends esc, all the people who suggested (and owned) to get the program card, everyone of them reported no problems, it may just have been coincidence that at the time of the esc  going wrong, he happened to use the program card

besides, i can be a lazy person and using the transmiiter to change esc values is something i could'nt get used to, people have there ways of doing things but i stand by what i say and thats get a program card

I have the 120 and program it routinely with the Tx. It's easy. I't goes into program mode if you pin the trigger before you plug it into power. Hold the trigger until you hear the strange tone. Then wait for the correct beep (I believe it's #3, 1 is reverse, 2 is cell number, 3 is cut-off, and 4 is timing setting. When it beeps the propper nunber for the feature you want to change you let off the trigger. Then it will go through another series of beeps and you select the setting by pulling the trigger again. Not hard at all once you do it once. I see no need for the card. I could reprogram all 4 features in 5 minutes.

i hope it comes with those directions, if it can be done with the tx i'm not too worried about it, i don't plan on changing the values more then once or twice, i've never done it with my super vee, how can i tell what timing is going to be the best? i don't imagine i'll change the cut off more then once, brakes most likely off, reverse? is that bad for the flex shaft? i didn't see the right card on hobbycity, the one i did see had a lot of negative feed back and was saying it was for car esc's only

reverse is bad for a flex shaft because it will unwind it, brake on is bad because it will wreck the esc and motor in no time

i only re-program the the cut-off for the lipo value

what esc do you have in the boat

turnigy do a program card, its a blue box and called v2, it works with all turnigy marine esc's, the white turnigy card works with all turnigy plane and heli esc's (plush they call it)

people have good experience with them and some dont, i have good experience so i do suggest to go with the program card

The card on the right is the one for all V2 ESCs.This says Hobbywing but it is from Turnigy. Both companys are the same and just re label the products.People who have bad reviews with this did not follow directions.Use the upper right plug in for your chord that goes to the Rx and do NOT use the power plug in next to it unless you have removed the red wire from the ESC as this is the power supply for this 1 min programming. The face plates can be printed from your home computer, there are three of them for this card.Plane and helicopter,Boat, car and truck. All V2 ESCs work with this and the left one is V1 for planes and heli's.Here are the program options for boat. #1 Running mode. #2 # of lipo cells. #3 Low voltage cut off.#4 motor timing. If you call Aquacraft you can get the timing for that motor.Once you are done hit the OK button and recheck. This is the best $7 you have ever spent and you can change the values in the boat at the lake with no tools if you want to try timing / cut off changes ETC.

try reversing the throttle and see what happens

if that fails

when you hear the first beep, pull the trigger (or push the stick forward) until you hear a long beep, should be fine then

sounds like its not arming properly

what size batts are you using ??

it has bec in it so a rx pack cant be the problem, do you have the USB programer for it

i'm assuming you've got all the wires the right way round (in the rx aswell)

could it be the receiver thats gone wrong

try with another rx if you have one</p>

alot of people say they been having problems retaining settings, might be a case of a new esc or ringing whoever sold the esc for a new one or can help solve it

i'm glad its working for you (when it does) buy the usb stick and see if you can sort it that way
