MHZ drives
Hello,
I would like to go the scale route with the outdrive on my 46" enforcer V-hull. I currently have a little Zenoah 23cc with a tuned pipe. From my search, it looks like I should get the "Z-drive" because the "6" model is too big....Is this correct? How much slower will it go? Is this too much drive for my motor? What size prop do I change to? How much can the Zdrive handle if I decide to get a bigger motor? Thanks!

How much slower will it go?
How slow does it go now ??
Is this too much drive for my motor?
No - just too much money for that drive
What size prop do I change to?
What size prop are you currently running

According to MH$ germany - the S6 and "Z" drive are not designed for more than the power of a single Zenoah. But I have seen plenty of sterndrives running more power than that. How much motor are you considering running. The biggest prop the "Z" drive will accomodate is smaller than the amount of power the drive should be able to accept so overloading it wont really be an issue.
You may consider contacting Dr. Who - Might as well let him earn the $200 markup he has on each drive he is selling

RE: MHZ drives
Runs just below 40mph on GPS,....just recently realized I am running too much water into the pipe. I have a 75ss prop now, so I thought I would need to go slower since there is more drag through the gears.
I noticed your name pop up on alot of searches, thanks for the fast response. Yes it is ALOT of money, but I get bored with stuff quickly and like to try new things. I don't know why I want to spend more on the drive, than what I payed for the motor. Any idea on the mph loss between MH$ and basic surface drive (Enforcer) I have now?

RE: MHZ drives
I am involved in the stern drives since I sell a competing drive to the MH$ unit. (I got tired of dealing with Dr Who).
I have plenty of MH$ units and many more of another brand.
Speed loss wont be too significant though you may want to prop down a little. Perhaps a 70mm or 67mm prop will help keep your motor reving in a good power range.

Yep, that's the one I am looking at. Are the black pieces metal? Are those needle bearings or bushings?

RE: MHZ drives
I stirpped one down and used black appliance enamel. I did the whole drive. Threw it in the oven on 350 for about 45 minutes and the paint is tough as nails. I did not remove the output shaft seal or bearing. Considering it was not enough heat to melt the grease on the gears I think all the parts are fine (though I removed all the other bearings).

RE: MHZ drives
in the z drive or s6, can does the unit with the prop attatched to it, can it be moved in a sise to side motion with a servo? also could the pitch be adjusted with a servo? I a inerested in buying one of them. I have a 46 inch prather deep vee with a g-26 with the big bore kit from quickdraw.

The drive can be turned left and right. There is also a trim to raise and lower the drive angle.
Not sure you are going to find much in the way of broken drives out there. If someone breaks one they generally get it fixed as it is a pretty important component in getting your boat to move.
