advice on GPS in gasboat
Hi Guys i am looking for a GPS for my gasboats what do you recomend ?.... dont want to throw a load of money on one, only need speed , distance and if possible lightweight and waterproof

tom tom doesnt hold top speed,it does have a built in batery,not what you need for this hobby.go garmin,there real cheap on ebay now.

Brett,
the TomTom is not what you want for your boat, unless you want to install it in your car or truck when traveling.
won't give you Max/Top speed and its not waterproof like all the other one's that were mentioned.

I use a Garmin Nuvi 550 that hangs on my windshield when not in the boat. It has an internal battery to power it while not plugged in. Likely the Tom Tom does the same.
The 550 is rather expensive to be putting in a boat but what has worked for me so far is putting it in a Ziploc bag. It's been tested!

I have a Forerunner 101 got it submurged it even had water in the screen a few weeks back still worked.Just this weekend I get it submurged and it quit working that was on sunday I just tested it and it allmost gets the screen up so I and hopeing when it dries all the way it will work agine.[>:]

Personally use a Garmin Forerunner 201. Waterproof , and comes with rechargeable batteries and charger. Lasts about 8 hours "on" before a 1 hour charge is required. Purchased on Ebay for under $100 new.
