Default Peter's "Oh Boy Oberto" turbine Flips

Thought you guys might enjoy some pictures I took on Sunday. Peter brought out his two turbine boats, Miss Gieco and the Oberto. Everyone enjoyed the demo runs Peter put on for the club. A big thanks Peter from all of us. Peter manged two aerobatic shows as well, here are pictures of the second one. I hope to have videos for all of you later on tonight. Enjoy

Junk,... not at all. I thought the same thing before I looked at the turbine up close. A little compressed air, switch on the transmitter, press go, and it fired up. Like I said this was his second flip of the day. The only reason he did not make another run was due to the cowl sinking. Peter could not put floatation in the cowl because of the heat.

I should add that Peter's first run was done during a quick downpour.

That has to be the perfect application for the turbine engine. Hardly junk either, pricey yes. They can survive the ingestion of water so sayeth JetCat and apparently Peter!

Yep that was I....

You missed a great day of racing on Sunday. I have over 200 pictures from Sundays race. I hope Bert gets the website up and running soon so he can start adding to the picture gallery.

Here are some of Peter's Miss Gieco.

THey seem to be OK with the water surprisingly enough. But think about it. Turbines fly in all kinds of weather without a problem. It is FOD that can ruin a turbine fast.

Oh, and they WISH the turbine was "only" $2,000

http://www.sitewavesstores5.com/mm5/...Yes&Quantity=1

Notice the 28,000 rpm figure!!!

Thank you,

I don't think Bert will tell us the truth.... As for average speed in heat races 50-60.

The race doesn't always go to the fastest boat. You need to drive the course tight and keep your finger on the trigger. Most races are lost because the driver pushes to hard and he stuffs the boat. Heck at last months race two young kids under 13 won the V class with nitros running 40 mph because they were last guys standing.

Anyway back on topic here are the videos my son took. There is another angle from the tower that someone else took as well if I find it I will add the link later. They were shot with a small pocket sony digital camera.

I wanted to build a oberto with a turbine engine but was told if you flip them /submerge the motor in water the motor would be junk...Cheezewize69,your wright about fast boat dont win all the time at races..I was the races in Celina Ohio..The some of the gas guy where pushing there boats to much plus you also have ego's drivers plus vendedas, one guy hating the other.reckless driving too...It's the boat that is concisant win's most of the time at races..that can be a slow boat too..The key is to finish the race without recking and stalling...

Well if I had the money I would be looking to build one. Maybe time to dip into the kids college fund...... As you can see in the video and picture the Oberto turbine was underwater and it did not sustain any damage. He was able to fire it up within minutes. It was actualy easier to start compared to a zen after that dunk.
