A waterpump is a good idea if you are using a clutch! It is nice to be able to idle your boat and not have to worry about it. If my boat had no clutch I would probably run it without a water pump.

If you are running a clutch I beg to differ with Noahdear...if your boat sits and idles in the water or runs slower than "cruising speeds" to force water through it will burn it up to be sure.

Warehouse Hobbies
Bonzi Sports
ProBoat (actually makes a nice one with dual inlets/outlets)

Not too sure I would trust a Pro Boat anything. The quality of everything I've seen is marginal at best. I'd go WHH or Bonzi

i have the proboat pump. so far in about 10 hours of run time this year it has worked flawlessly. i think these pumps are pretty much all the same. its just a matter of preference. fwiw, i did buy the proboat one for the dual inlet/outlet. i cool my head separate from my exhaust.

Using your logic, any boat doing less than "cruising speed" should have a water pump installed. And we all know that it plain crap. Once water flows from the rudder intake and through the head it will keep flowing even at slow or almost idle speeds. You only need a water pump if you plan on idling your boat for long periods. I don't know anyone who does that. Most people throw their boat in the drink and run it until they get back to the shore.

Some of us like to let the boat idle on the water for a bit. And not to mention the safety factor of no prop cutting something , or worse someone , when you go to "throw" your rig in the water! I can take my eyes off of the boat and sit back, move my chair, get a drink, light a cigar etc. and not have to worry about the boat getting hot or where it's going! And i can idle her back to shore at my own pace. To each his own but if running a clutch I would always say get a water pump. It doesn't rob you of any power ( unless your into heat racing and every little bit helps ) so why not? The original question was which waterpump to go with so we know DFB is installing one anyways so hopefully his question is answered........

Most water pumps are made by Walbro (the carb people) and is made to be used as a fuel pump, and it makes a great water pump too!

You guys are missing the point....he is asking who makes the best one....

Its not whether you "NEED" a water pump or not....we all know that if you are going to idle alot, it would behoove you to have one! Aaaannd we all know if you are NOT running a clutch you don't "NEED" one....Common sense...

Waste of money? Are you kidding? A 30$ water pump is alot cheaper than replacing a 250$ engine that got fried from idling with no pump..

My answer...I dont really know...I know alot are made by Walbro...I got the one from WHH and it is flawless..(forgot who makes it)

Cheers..
