Default Engine Test Fixture

I cobbled this fixture together over the last two days and finally got around to trying it out with a spare engine that I have.

I was really surprised; with the prop X472, Barr Cut, Detongued and Cupped; fully submerged this G23RC would turn it 13,800 to 14,400.

I thought I had a video of it twisting up but I guess I hit the wrong button. Maybe this video will post if not I will put it on You Tube.

Can't upload AVI so will post on You tube.

Here are a couple of stills of the inside.

You can't stationary test props because they cavitate.

I realize that; after 800 hours in a bass boat.

You also cannot adjust the carb on an unloaded 2 stroke engine.

The purpose of the fixture, at least for me was to put a load on the engine to see what max rpm could be obtained with a load and to also test the transition from idle to WOT.

But the Prop really does not cavitate that much. It will lift the top off of the container; with a 12 inch long piece of RailRoad Track sitting on it; that is why I had to screw the top down.

It serves my purpose; better than slinging a rod at 20,000.

reminds me of being a kid and putting the Minnkota in a 5 gallon bucket of water. Oh those days.
