K&B 7.5 Outboard not getting Gas
I just bought a tunnel hull with a K&B 7.5 Outboard liquid coold, non-remote needle. It doesn't seem to be getting gas from the tank. I have had the exhaust pressure line on, had the tank above the engine to get gravity to help but still no go. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

with your tank in its normal position, disconnect the fuel line from the carb, then disconnect it from the pressure side. with the tank full, blow through the pressure side. Check what happens, still no fuel? Check to see if you are getting air bubbles while blowing on the pressure side, if you are getting air bubbles while blowing on the pressure side check to see if you have the right line on the right side. continual checking the fuel filter, fuel lines.

K&B Problem
The tank flows fine, no air bubbles. Filter is new and everything seems to work fine. If I back the needle valve way out on the carb and raise the tank it will flow gas, but shouldn't it draw some up the tubes when the engine is turned over?

If you are spinning the engine over with a starter, yes it will draw fuel to the engine. Try spinning the engine with your starter while holding your finger over the end of your exhaust. If this does not work, pull your needle out, check for trash or anything that could block the flow.

switch the glow plug to a new one, sometimes a bad plug will glow when you check it out of the engine.
Start the engine with the carb almost closed off, if it runs in this position, then richen the mixture, if it hydro locks lean it.
Also the engine needs to clean itself out.
Check to make sure that all of the bolts and nuts are tighten.
make sure that the carb is seated all of the way down with a good seal.
let me know if any of this helps or not

Got it running now, but as soon as I take the glow stick off it dies?? Too rich, needle not right? I don't know what else to look at.

Did you try another glow plug yet? It is sometimes hard to see if it has any damage like a broken coil wire. It might be getting just enough of a connection when you hit it with a glow driver but will die after it is disconnected. It probably happened from having a too lean condition. Try the needle at around 3-1/2 turns out from the fully closed position.

The one on the side. the one sticking up at usually an angle by the throat of the carb is for adjusting the idle speed. The one inside the throttle arm is the low speed needle, don't mess with that one on the older carbs. The newer ones have a "wheel" or round plate on the side for low speed.

Hey Gambit I am a member of the Winnipeg Rudder Benders and one of the five boats I race is a 7.5 OB tunnel. If you have questions or problems give me a call and you can drop over with your boat and we can sort it out.
