Hi all,
Got a little question in relation to servos. I am currently building a 'Wild Thing"by John Finch. It will be running a .21 nitro engine with speedmaster rudder.
What servos will I need for the throttle and rudder ? Can anyone give me a few ideas on the different manufactures /types that are suitable?
Thanks for your help...

My Feedback: (1)
Sure, I have 2 friends that built that boat. Any standard or micro servo will work for the throttle, a standard servo might work fine for the rudder but I'd do with one with a little more torque. I myself have been using Hi-Tec's a lot lately and have had good luck with them but whatever brand is your favorite will have servos for what you need.
BTW, seeing how you are using the Speedmaster rudder, cut about enough off the bottom of it so there is only about 1-1/4" of rudder below the prop. In stock form, there is too much. round off the bottom of it after cutting.

Ross, My 'Wild Thing' has a Hi Tec 81 on the throttle and a "standard" Hi Tec on the rudder and remote mixture. The standards I have are HS 303's. They came with the Hi Tec Ranger III radio system I use. My guess is they put out around 40 oz. in. of torque. You don't need any more than that. I would have used an HS 81 on the mixture but the control was pretty stiff and I had the extra 303 on hand any way.
By the way, I brought a digital camera home from work this weekend and got some pictures for you. I'll have them in an E Mail to you early this week. Gotta have someone at work show me how to down load them into my computer. You'll see the boat overall and some details of the engine compartment and the transom area. Also you'll see that the rudder (Speedmaster) is cut off to just about the water pickup hole. As Ron indicates, the stock rudder is far to long.
