Yes, I know. Can anyone recommend a good, not too expensive and small GPS that would be great for this purpose??

Edit: If anyone wonders which pipe I`m using, this is the one: http://www.justengines.unseen.org/ac...ned_Pipes.html

It is a 21 pipe, but recommended for 30 size engines for high rpm applications.

It is stunningly silent and power is better than stock. I had to shorten the header by about 0.5 inch to make it slide in there.

hi all
i finally got threw all 101 pages of this thread i bought a tc31 about half way threw. this is my first boat. i didn't take your advise at first in the thread. i tryed to run it with stock fuel tank. why i am posting is i just wanted to say to all that posted thanks for all your help i never posted before this i was just reading in the background but i couldn't have done it without you guys posting your valuable info like i said i am a newbe to boats. there is definitely a different learning curve here. my changes was i replaced fuel take with airplane tank autobailers and moved placement of pressure fitting and m445 prop. all i can say is wowwwwwwwwwwww!!! for a first boat i am pleasently supprised and i owe a great deal of it to this thread and excellent information that has been posted here. thanks again all. sincerely john

Hmmm, I have come to page 50 in this thread and have not noticed why the stock tank would be bad? I`m running the stock tank with no problems, what can be the issue with it?? My cap is tight by the way, is there something else I should be aware of??

Thanks

hi asmound take the tank out of boat place under water blow in pressure line plug off carb line look for little bubbles coming from tank if there is you got a leak if not run it its a great tank. my case the pressure nipple leaked and the bottom nipple leaked to got fuel all over the bottom of my boat. if the tank isn't giving you problems i really wouldn't worry about it tho.

this is the gps i use http://garmn.factoryoutletstore.com/...ID=30574592022 it works great for our r/c's. it is water proof, rechargable, has a max speed mode and is small and lite weight. i got mine on e-bay for $85 shipped

you are correct. mine leaked to, i got a new one and the same thing. i ended up using a soldering iron to melt the plastic and seal it up

hi all one question that i do have is setting the transom (prop depth in water and angle of attack, prop being slightly elevated or sbmerged at rear of prop) i seen a little info on this subject but not to the extent alot of the other question were anserwed. is this just becuse it varys becuse the water your running on (choppy or glass) and personal preferance. the reason i am askinhg i got it tuned in the other day and it was doing every thing but taking flight ( and taking flight at times )but the water had a little chop on it and i think i turned it over at least 6 to 8 times can i tune this out on choppy water or was the water just to rough that day(i know you wern't there its hard to tell me if it was or wasn't too rough) but still is there better setting for rough water and smooth. or do i have to practice throttle management ( i think i need this anyway i have two speeds on and off) if i could get a little more info on this i would apreciatted it. thanks in advance.

Well I have made some progress at last.
New motor aligned and mounted.
Hull reinforced with a coating of epoxy resin
Now to tackle the issue of how to mount the massive pipe.
Its going to involve some serious dremel action on the canopy [8D]

Here`s a video of my TC 31, check out how silent it runs due to the flat disc pipe, and both me and the spectator had the impression that this very silent pipe made it faster too.

http://www.vimeo.com/6067728

Here`s a thread about my TC 31 on my Norwegian forum, just scroll down a little and there will be pictures that show my pipe and the 9.5mm carb from an ASP .91 aero engine. and also the modded rudder http://www.sunnfjordrc.no/forum/view...php?f=1&t=1722

The video is on the stock prop and it moves pretty well. I have a speedgun in the mail and I will radar it on both the stock prop and my new Octura M445 to see just how big a difference there will be

Not much action going on in this thread anymore, I guess all mods have been tried by now since it is dying out Well here`s a new video of my TC 31 fitted with Octura M445, ASP .91 aero engine carb, Justengines flatdisc tuned pipe (veeeery quiet compared to the stock one) The engine have also been ported and polished, running "only" 45%[8D] I have also fitted two auto bailers and they work GREAT, no more water in the hull

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9yZFe9YggA

About in the middle of the video it becomes airborne due to high speed and takes a flight.

Next time I will get it measured with my brand new speed gun

From my point of view, it looks like this is a copy of the Hatori #350 tuned flat disc pipe. Just Engines in Great Britain have them. Nice price and good service. link: http://www.justengines.unseen.org/ac...ned_Pipes.html

BTW, asmund, do you have any issues with the silicone joint been bunt between the manifold bend and the pipe?

To keep the silicon couplers from burning up, I added a header cooling coil (from the Aquacraft Supervee 27). You just have to uncoil it slightly to fit on the larger header, but it works great. Just run the water cooling line out from the engine, into the header cooling coil, then out the water outlet. I'll post a pic later.

Some people in my club run a separate water cooling line just for the header coil, and just add another water outlet.

I also use the Venom 1/8 scale couplers. They really hold up great.

Hope that helps!

Have you got time to test the speed yet? We are waiting for your readings! Awsome setup with the purple-pipe. Have your mods on the engine been successful?

Correct, I use the .20 pipe but it is intended for .30+ engines for very high rpm. Actually the video made it sound more noisy than it really is, it is so quiet that my buddies said it sounded more like a hot brushless, and the stock pipe will never be used again. The green silicone I use is the one that came with the purple pipe and I have no issues what so ever with this one, the stock one burnt up in a couple of tanks.

Just be careful. I've heard that the TC31 does not handle speeds above 40 mph so well. You should not push is it so hard. Be safe, run it below 40 mph, there is no reason for pushing the limit.
