did you read the links I put up for you? The best motor to use for you being new to nitro boats would be a marine engine due to how it cools and parts compatibility, as in flywheels, collets, and such.

If you want a race engine for marine try a CMB or rossi about 350$-400$ eather way thats why I said OS and dymamite as they are cheaper to buy dont get me wrong still good engines also K&B sells marine engines

Depending on what hull you're looking and I'm kind of guessing here that it may be a Prather, the deck is too high for an air-cooled engine to get enough air to keep it cool.
The other problem is that with most .21 engines made for cars and trucks is that most have slide carbs and the wrong shafts for marine use. Slide carbs just make hooking up the linkage harder but the big thing is the shaft off the crank. The SG shafted engines don't adapt well. you have to cut off the unthreaded part then you really don't have enough threads sticking out once you install a flywheel to hook up the flex cable collet to.

Not a bad engine to get your feet wet. Have any place to run the boat??? Might want to come up to Harrison, Ohio on Sept 9th & 10th. The [link=http://www.cincymbc.com/]Cincy Model Boat Club[/link] will be hosting this years Indy Masters. There will be quite a few fast boats there, some even for sale!!!!

the specs are better on the .21 os than the .32 os
.21 Output: 1.7 hp @ 28,000 rpm
.32 Power Output: 1.1 hp @ 17,000 rpm
just because its bigger doesnt always mean better

I'd suggest before buying right now, you might want to check out the deals that can be found at a big race. You'll see what is running and what works. Also, the club pres is a CMB dealer, he might give ya a great deal on one. Don't be afraid of walking up to the boaters and ask questions. I'll be at the race with 3 tunnels, 2 yellow and one orange.. Just look for the hippie

Mark, you or someone from the Cincy club can make postings on the events calendar and in the nitro forum for the race and I can lock it there until the race is over.
I've seen some fantastic deals on boats at races. One friend of mine used to spend a lot of money buying up just about everything that was for sale. Now he has a bedroom piled from floor to ceiling with stuff then lost interest.

Hi ,Nova Rossie is a good motor But If you want a real screamer Nova Rossie has one. It's a .28 sts that puts out 3.6 hp rpms 4000-40.000 and this motor ran up to 400 degrees and it still runs.Their 122 to 128 dollars. The guy told me that it doesnt mater what small block I'd put in my boat this motor will smoke my boat/kick its butt badly. I'd got a .21Leo its a good motor that has 3500 to 30.000 rpms.I'd won it off of ebay for 42 dollars. Leo Make a naster .21 motor that goes up to 40.000 rpms. And it will cost 60 dollars that includes shipping too.My .21 Leo is a screamer!!! too. If you want to check them out heres their websight.www.leoengines.com the motor is 7220m-21-zp.

If you're going to run boats mostly on your own, do not begin with one of the high $ engines from CMB, Nova Rossi, etc. They tend to be harder to setup and get running right. If you don't have help, it's easy to burn them out due to lean runs. The previously suggested OS engines will tend to be easier to setup and represent a much lower initial investment.
When thinking of an engine size, also consider what you plan to do with it. If it's just a fun boat, the size isn't critical. However, if you're thinking of racing, a .21 is a much better size than a .32. The main reason is the common classes are .21 and .45. If

and you can race .32 in with the .21's which is I think B class if you do the math and look in the IMPBA manual you will find I'm right
The .32 is just under the limit, trust me on this as we had to look when we had our IMPBA race here, it however wont qualify for the RTR class, to big.
