Default Starting problems

Hey guys I need some help. I've got a second hand Proboat thundercat and can get it started but am having problems keeping it that way. When I start it it sounds like it's missing until I hit the gas then it will get on note. After a few seconds or when it hits the water it cuts off. High speed too rich?

Shutting off soon after launch is more often that it's too lean.

There's a quick test on seeing if you're rich or lean. blip the throttle and if it revs up quickly, it's lean. If it lags a little, it's close. If it really bogs down then you're on the rich side. Don't do a full-throttle onshore otherwise you could be trying to avoid shrapnel.

Must be lean then...There is a definate change in pitch from after I start and then hit the throttle....I'll try making it richer.

that test only works for some motors i supose? My K&B would transition from low to high on land very crisp, and had no problems running on the water (2-1/4 on low, 3-1/2 to 3-3/4 on high)... was pretty rich infact.

I am kind of new to the whole boat thing...but I had similar problems and it wound up being a glow plug.
