I stuck the camera to the back of my 225 and tried it out. The movie looks cool but my upload speed is so slow that a 10 min movie takes 30 hrs to upload.I'm trying to get that fix so I can upload them.

I finally got it uploaded. This is just a trial to see how the camera would work. I going to give the rc boat a try Friday if it doesn't rain. I have another video later.

heres some more. The gopro hero camera is heavy and should be mounted low and in the middle of the boat.I would have to cut up a cowl to do a good job.I'd love to put it on one of my amps boat but with no spare parts Ken I think you should put it in your 1/4 scale tunnel or your 402.

Hi Ken,
I think i have finally figured how to put photos on this thread. This hull is probably one of my most favorite International Hobiies boats. Baja's are rare, but the outdrive version, I have not seen another. I bought this hull on Ebay about five years ago. The original engine was a OS.40, which was junk, I replaced it with a .46. It is well used but quite exceptable.

Hello, I presume this is an AMPS outdrive and maybe the old british model from 70's ? There are no markings...
It turns over freely, anybody can give me some infos about the oil needed for its gears and the power it should accept without risk?
Many thanks, Chris

Hi Chris fr

Yes this looks like one of the original batch of outdrives. Any good quality low to medium viscosity gear oil will do – modern car gearbox oils are a good source.

As regards power these units were designed to be used with 10cc (.61cu in) nitro engines of the 70’s era. So about ¾ to 1 BHP at about 12,000 – 16,000 rpm. Before running check that there is not excessive backlash in the gears as this is a sign of worn or not fully engaged gears. The cause of most gear failures.
Spare gears are available if you have problems.

Regards

Bob

Hi Bob Agnew,

many thanks for the infos, this outdrive will be mounted on my old AMPS Coronet hull (see post # 684 & 687 here : [link]http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_7065963/anchors_9073557/mpage_28/key_/anchor/tm.htm#9073557[/link] )

The problem is now to choose the right 70's british engine to power these survivors from the past !

(Miles 10 CC, Meteor .60, Merco .61, Fisher Redshift .60 and Irvine .61)

Hi Chris
We used many Merco 61's in those days for both single and twin installations.

I have tried everywhere to get one and I cannot get one, I have tried there website, and I get nothing

I am doing this for a dummy modle for a customer

Here is a photo of my new Baja outboard, another ebay purchase. The interior in this version is vacuum formed. The interior in my Baja io is injection molded. Is the vacuum molded interior a later version? They do interchange.
