If you clean everything with freshwater and lube everything up after a run in salt water it'll be ok
There's a fairly long list of things to do though

Its no problem to run in salt water if you can find a spot to run in calm water , I havent been to your island but I have been to Maui and did not see too many places to run there.

Hello there... Salt isn't so much a problem if you stay ahead of it. I run in salt water from time to time... Do you fish? If you do, you may be familiar with many products out there to help protect your fishing gear. A spray lube called Reel Magic for example. It is a silicone based spray that helps protect from pitting common with exposure to salt water and air. I spray on the ext. of my running gear and engine (after engine cools). If your are really anal... There is a product for full sized boats called nutra-salt. Its not cheap, but its designed to beak down salt deposits. Injecting thru your water cooling, letting it sit then flush out will keep everything deposit free. The problem with salt is you have to keep in mind that everything is exposed... Not just the engine. Running gear to the control linkages, even the electrical connections for the servos and RX batt... EVERYTHING. As you know living in HI, the salt air over time can do a number on things too.
