Central NEW YORK boaters

No FB account, yet anyway. The way things stand for now, we'll be leaving the weekend so Elmira so it would be at least four days until we could get there. As for updates, PMs would be fine, at least for now. I figure early to mid May we will need to be setting up stopping points for the trip so we do have some time

HJ...if you are leaving Spokane on the 14th that puts you in the area around the 18th. How long are you planning on being in the Rochester NY area? Have you booked a place to stay? Right now, the only place we could count on to run is Carey Lake...but the weeds might be an issue. However, there is usually room to run at least a couple boats at a time. Stony pond in Canandaigua is up in the air right now over the noise debate. However the town is trying to be more reasonable. Keep us posted on your trip. RC

We are scheduled to be in Springfield MA the afternoon of Sunday the 21st, have reservations at the fairgrounds starting that night. As far as where we'll stay in NY, the plan is to stay in our trailer, just a matter of finding someplace to park it that, preferably, has power available.

That's the plan, pulling out of Spokane that morning. If we get to go boating, it looks like we'll be bringing the wife's Atlantic and my old Elam since my new boats won't be ready to run by then One of the breaks of not being retired I guess

HJ...I'll be talking to Blackout to see if we can let you run at Stony Pond...as the weeds are growing pretty fast at Carey Lake. I'll follow up with you in a week or so. Roger C.

I'm hoping it will be more than just me running. The wife and I had a blast running with the guys in Sellersburg IN in 2011 and the guys in Excellsior Springs MO last year. As we all know, it's more fun to run with others than it is to run by yourself

Okay guys, less than a week to go and I've been told that Craig's pond is closed since he's going to be out of town. Is there any word on Carey Lake? I won't have internet access after Thursday so, after that, unless I have someone's phone number..................

HJ...guys are still running at Carey Lake, but the weeds are growing. We will have to see how they are next week. I am sure we can scare up some guys to run Thurs & Fri the 18th and 19th. Saturday's are usually bad for Carey lake as the have weddings booked at the party facility. I think Sunday the 21st you need to be Mass. I am PM'ing my cell number. Call me when you get in the Rochester area.

HJ, So, are you thinking you will be around here next Thurs & Friday (18th/19th)?? If so, I'll see who is planning or available to run. I can do Thurs after work and anytime on Friday. Most of the younger guys work full time and only head to Carey Lake on the weekend (Sundays). Do you have an IMPBA membership? NAMBA?
#4089
We can probably be there on Friday since we were planning on Saturday for boating already. Just have to find a place to stash the trailer unless we can stay over at Carey Lake for a couple of nights. We both have NAMBA cards so no problem there. If it's okay with you, I'll give you a shout in a bit

HJ, Got your voicemail and have loaded your PH# in my cell. How big is the trailer and what days does it need to be parked for?

Just have to thank the group that made the wife and I feel welcome two weeks ago. Got home late last night, sans Tahoe and trailer. Had one set of wheel bearings explode and the other three go bad in the trailer in Columbus OH on Monday so we ended up flying home so that we can make it to work next week
I'll be flying back to pick it up after the holiday and when both axles are replaced. Then, it's three days or less to cover 2550 miles and 37 hours of travel time, gas and food stops excluded

Parts are on order, Tom. Axles and brakes are being upgraded to handle more weight, meaning they should hold up better than the lighter factory stock ones. The bad part is that I'll get them home and then the wife and I have to do a quick remove and reload to head back out two weeks later Hopefully we can figure out why it was walking all over the lake so it is competitive next time out

HJ...It was nice to me you and your wife. Thanks for stopping by. Good luck on getting the trailer upgraded and back to Washington. On your Hydro...some guys who have experienced similar 'dancing' on their hydros claimed they calmed them down by adding some weight to the nose. Good luck. Roger C.

Roger, I fly back to Columbus on Friday night and figure getting the Tahoe and trailer home won't be a big problem, that is once the new axles are installed. As for the boat, I'm not going to put a lot of time into it since I'm in the process of building a replacement hull. I figure I'll run it for the rest of the season or until the new boat is done and then put it on a shelf. After 14 years, I think it earned a retirement

So here it is, over two weeks later and the trailer and Tahoe still aren't home. Apparently, trailer axles are hard to get in Ohio. If all goes well, I fly out tomorrow night to pick them up and highball it home in less than three days.
