Default engine dilema

I crashed my 4 star 60 lst night and do want to build another, at the same time I've already bought a Hog Bipe and was getting ready to start the build soon. I was planning on putting my ST 75 into the hog bipe but now I can choose between it or the OS 91 FS pumped from my 4 star. I love the way the 4 stroke flies the 4 star and have never flown a Hog Bipe. If you had the choice what would you do?

Simple, the ST-75, but then I can't stand four strokes. I like the 2 strokes better. Have a few fours, don't fly them much.

Either one would power it fine though, put the one in that you like the best.

Either one will do nicely. You might think about the next plane in your future & which engine will suit it -- that will determine which engine goes in the bipe.

Bipes sound so much better with a 4 stroke.

I am in the midst of building a Hog Bipe and chose the Saito 100. It was down to an OS91 surpass, or the Saito, and I chose the Saito because I wanted the Golden Knight version. If you want to see how it is going, I am doing the Hog Bipe build thread in the kit forum. You will probably run into the problems that I have and find the the carb/needle valve will need reversing. This puts the throttle cable in the center of the fuse, but it can be set up that way. You can PM me if you end up choosing the Saito and I can take pics of the install if you need.

The latest issue of "Fly RC" has an article on the 4* 60 with a 91 4s in it. The magizine said "The 4* 60 and the 91 4s were made for each other".

Unless you modified it, the Hog Bipe is an open-cowl exposed engine sport plane. I would use the ST75 because of that. Save the 91 4stroke for a cowled airplane.

I just lost a lot of respect for you Ed

Check your local ordinances... In some states it's ILLEGAL to put a 2-Stroke in a Bipe (Or at least it SHOULD be!)

4-Stroke in the Sig Pig and 2-Stroke in the 4*

Don't those ordinances also include Cubs?

You're right Chuck - Bipes, Cubs and War Birds...

and using anything bigger than 60 size 2-stroke is a misdemenor
