Angry ESC Help Needed...Please!

I have a Trex 550 with a Brain FBL, 600MX motor, BL70G ESC and a CC BEC Pro and using a single new Pulse 6S 5000, which has flown for some time with out any indicated problems.

Now to the problem; I decided to engage the governor mode not realizing I needed an external input. I ran the motor without the main gear drive train and attempted to adjust. All seemed fine, except I could not get the Gov to engage. After realizing I needed an external sensor (I assume) I tried to put everything back to the non-governor mode.

I have reset the ESC several times to:
Brake- 1 off
Timing - 2 Mid
Battery Protect - 2 Medium (tried high as well)
Heli No Gov - 2
Throttle - 3 Quick
Battery Vlts- 3 6 vlts

The outcome and problem is once the engine is allowed to spool I can not stop it with throttle hold or 0 throttle curve in normal mode. What am I missing or have I hurt the ESC some how?

Any thoughts or experience would be appreciated...I am stumped.
