Default T-REX 600 electronics

Im looking into getting a T-REX 600 when its released and was wondering if anybody knows the best setup for the new heli. Im thinking because its not released yet that not many people would know but i'll try anyway. Can someone tell me the best setup for #d and the best setup for the lowest price. Just so I can get an idea of which direction im going to go.

For servos and gyros, I imagine the same stuff that's popular among the nitro fliers would transfer to the electric, so I bet we'll see alot of Futaba servos in these things as a standard setup, aswell as GY401's or GY601's standard on the gyro.

As for the receiver? Whatever radio you happen to fly is the brand you'll probably need, as using a PCM RX is always a good idea.

With the exception of the align motor and ESC, for guys who want real power, plettenburg motors aswell as Kontronik motors will probably be popular choices, matched up with castle creation's 85A HV esc's. Pricey, but good quality motors. Neu makes some large motors too that will probably look nice in a T-rex 600 .

Of course, it's still too early to tell what will and won't work. I don't even know what size servos the 600 uses. I'm assuming standard size.

But hey, speculation is fun too

The 600 is designed for standard servos. I believe the Futaba 9252 digital servo ( $80 ) is the right
choice for the cyclic inputs.

Total cost of servos = $240

A GY 401 will work great on the tail.

Total cost = $220 w/servo

You will need a 6S2P lipo for power.

I believe they run $ 250 - 280 each.........ouch, 3 packs = $750

Not Cheap !!!!

I decided to stay with the Rex junior.

PS - I didn't even mention the cost of the premium motors or speed controls............OUCH [sm=drowning.gif]

It's enough to break the bank [sm=sunsmiley.gif]

I think folks should consider the Century Swift rather than the Trex 600(please don't kill me, I have an SE and love it more than life itself). The parts for the Swift are cheaper than the parts for the 450 series of Trex helis![X(] I know that some people will say that Align is a proven company, and they are. But Century Helicopters has been around far longer than Align. As far as electronics, the Swift would use the same as th Trex 600. Also, I would agree with the equipment ultraviolet says for either of the helis.

The 600 is bigger than the swift. From the reviews i've seen on the swift, I don't find it anything impressive.

Of course, theres no info really on the t-rex 600 yet, so we'll have to wait and see. If I was going to get a .30 size helicopter right now though, it'd be a logo 10, not a Swift, I think.

I had fogotten about the logo series. From what I hear, they are top notch. From a price standpoint, aren't they much more expensive? Or is it because they are made with carbon and aluminum?

I have flown a Swift. Like credence said, it seemed to be nothing special. Upon further review, I noticed that it was set up to be rather tame. It had a motor on the lower end of the power spectrum and a 4S pack. On the other hand, the performance of a helicopter greatly depends on how it is set up. So, I'd imagine it would be an excellent performer with lets say.... a 6S2P and a tango 45-10 or maybe more?

Well, the Logo line of helicopters have been around quite a bit longer than the swift has. The design is proven and has gone through many revisions to address any problems that ocurred in the inital designs, aswell as having been revised a few times over it's life. It's a real solidly built bird. Maybe a bit heavier than the swift, but solid. The swift has quite a few problems out of the box if I recall correctly. Not sure if they've been corrected as of yet by Century.

But, like you said, much of it comes down to the power setup, and the stock electronics that you can get for the swift are definately on the lower end of the spectrum of power setups. Most guys i've seen with logo birds seem to favour the kontronik or hacker series of motors.

Well, maybe someone will do some sort of comparison between the Trex 600, the Logo, and the Swift, one day. (Aren't they all considered to be .30 sized?) Anyway, I don't think it really matters which one you have so long as you are having fun flying it!

T-rex 600 is .50 size. It's a bit larger.

I think the logo 10 may also be a tad bit bigger than the swift from what i've seen.

for all you guys who are doubting the T-REX 600 check out my video thread on the T-REX 600. the first vid is flown by alan szebo and is F&%$ing AMAZING. it can be found here. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_4399499/tm.htm this is my thread. but basically your looking at about $1300.00 - $1500.00 for an extreme T-REX 600 capable of everything.

well if you could fly like that you could probably win alot of competitions so you would have prize money, more models for free as a prize maybe, and sponsors to pay for all the broken stuff. so you would be able to push your limits and get better with out the major cost. which is what holds back most pilots including me. but im pretty sure the money alone would get most of them and the flying would get the ones who appreciate how much practice and time it takes to get that good. so compresed the answer to your question is YES. it may not be a flock but it probably will be a steady stream.

That's the beauty about being a sponsored flier. Companies give you top end stuff for free if you fly for them, so not only do you get better equipment to begin with, but the fear of crashing isn't as big allowing you to try stuff you normally wouldn't. Although, i'm pretty sure mr. szabo has spent alot of time on a sim .

He's going to be up here july 14th, i'd really like to get out and see him fly .

By the way, endeavour, if you happen to find ladies that actaully flock towards a guy who flies model helis.. uh.. be sure to let us all know where you're finding them!

I will, ............and now that I think about it, the owner of my LHS wants me to do a demo for him. My LHS is Hodges Hobbies, which is were SEFF (Southeast Electric Flight Festival) takes place. Maybe, and go with me on this guys, if I impress him enough, he will let me do a demo for SEFF. And if memory serves me right, there are quite a few fine looking ladies at this event, not to mention possible sponsors! Ohhhhhh, this is actually sounding kinda GOOD! But hey wait, if I tell you where the ladies are, doesn't that mean less for me?[8D]
