I just built a 450 SE, bought a DX7 and it flies like a dream... You really need a gym or indoor facility to fly it. I have found 5 groups at different city rec. centers that fly weekly.
It's headspeed is dangerous for in the house... Two car garage required to just hover tail in, and I can say I have mastered nose in hover, but not in the garage... Prop wash is to bad..
I fly figure 8's with my cp pro in the same garage for a reference.
Don't let is scare you, it's just like driving a race car the first couple times... Hover the blade cp in all orientations before you go Trex or you will be damaging a lot of stuff...
To cold in Texas (yes there is ice on the ground as I type) to try it outside yet...

Kit: Any version with an S in the name, because they have the best servo arrangements. The SE is top fo the line, obviously.
Gyro: Futaba 401, if that's too expensive then Futaba 240 or CSM 200 (the light version of the 200).
Servos: Blue Bird 306BB, HS-65 or any JR or Futaba that will fit. Tail servo HDS-577 or -877, or one of the Futaba digitals that match the 401. Any of those cyclic servos will do to start with if the digitals are too expensive.
Motor and ESC: The standard Align 430L and 35X ESC are fine to start with. Use governor mode and an 11T pinion to start with.
Blades: Align 325 wood.
Radio: Spektrum DX6 or DX7, strong preference for the DX7 even though you'll have to sell off the servos that come with it. The DX7 is just so much better of a radio and worth every penny. However, the DX6 certainly will fly the T-Rex and you can learn a lot with it. Don't use S75 servos from a DX6 set on a T-Rex, they're simply not strong enough.
If you can hover the Blade in all orientations, the T-Rex will be straightforward to fly. If you don't have nose-in, you will be OK with the T-Rex but be very cautious... a T-Rex causes a lot more damage if it hits something.
