Default Those using the align 3550kv

is anyone using this motor with another esc other then the align 35 amp model

i cant seem to get my motor to run happy at all. I'm told to use mid timing but the motor doesnt agree with it at all turning my flight time into all of 3 mins and leaving everything very hot. On low timing it still heats up the E-SKY 40AMP esc but i get 7 minutes (from a 2200mah 20-30c lipo). i have zero pitch until i hit 83% throttle. i am using a 13t pinion.
when i spin the blades i can get about 4 complete revolutions so i'm fairly sure the drive train is sweet. Blades are tracking perfectly, no viabration evident and i am using 315 pro woods. Any help or thoughts are helpfull for i am at my wits end

I'm running a Phoenix (CC) 45, but don't have any problems with it.

One of the things that heats up the ESC the most is the linear BEC not the switching part that runs the motor. Try an external switching BEC and see if that helps. If your motor is getting hot thats something different. Mine gets fairly warm but not hot. Align does sell a heat sink for the motor you can get for a few bucks.

I put a ParkBEC on and my Align ESC ran a lot cooler. I'm running a Hyperion now, and that runs cold.

I'm running a Hyperion 30A... the old version with linear BEC, there's a new one with a switching BEC that would mean you wouldn't need the ParkBEC.

Just a little update for anyone with the same trouble, i swapped the motor for a 400TH 3200kv and the heat is all within normal tolerences. The flight times are up to about 13 mins hovering but something i have noticed is my battery has still retained the heat being a 2200mah 20-30c it shouldn't heat up at all, and all cells are properly balanced. I have the 1700mah of the same brand and it does not heat up as much. But the motor has been soughted, it is going to get another chance in an aircraft soon.

I also use the Castle Creations Phoenix 45 ESC and have not experienced any problems at all.
