Default Hey, 3D guys, need your help

Allright, i have a rex 450s. I can get the machine setup for upright and inverted on the pitch curves pretty easly but, have a few questions.

1) After i got the pitch curves set up, i put the gauge on to see where i was at soo i could duplicate it later. It came out to somthing like: +10,+5,0,-3,-6. Has anybody else noticed this or am i really messed up ??
2) Where do you trim your machine? Is it trimmed for upright hover? Maybe trimed for piros? I can think of a few ways to do it and was just wondering what the mass consensis (sp?) is. Does anybody us a mix to help with trim in upright/inverted hover?
3) Does your machine stop in rolls ? I know i have to pull a little on the stick but, i also have to hold back stick when in an inverted hover and think that is why i asked question #2.
4) Will carbon tail blades help speed up the piro rate?

Thanks
DK

1. first off make sure all the levers in the head and blade grips are level. adjust the links in the head to acheive this. once you do the un plug the motor and move the stick to mid stick and switch into idel up. now with mid stick and in idel up, you should have zero deg pitch on the blades. now when you move the stick full up and full down you should have the same deg of motion in either way.

2. If your heli is set up properly, you should only have to trim it while upright. im pretty sure the "S" has the same battery mount as the SE. so mount the battery onto the small little CF battery mount not underneath it where it is level. this gets the CG closer to center which will help it roll and loop more smoothly. once its trimmed for upright hovering then when inverted it should react just the same way.

3. my rolls are smooth and dont stop. but what i think you mean by stop is hesitate, probably as the heli reaches inverted. well moving the battery to where i said in Q2 should help eliminate this. also collective management will help the heli roll and loop more smoothly.

4. carbon blades wont help speed up anything. they will help the tail be more solid in flight, i assume your using the 401. it would help to know what radio your using too. as for speeding up, just adjust the rudder travel to a higher percent. if its at 100% go to 110% and see how you like it then just adjust from there.

1. Yes i know how to setup the head. Zero out the servos and get it all lined up. But thanks anyway.
2. I have not flown it with the pack on the upper brace. Too tail heavy. So they trim out upright and inverted when cg is dead on? Ok.
3. I have to hold about 15% back elev to keep it level when inverted. Thats why it stops in the rolls. I got a couple of smooth ones but, still working on the elev timming, collective is all right.

4. I Have a telebee with a 3107 and dont have any tail holding problems. Just a really slow piro rate. Will turning up the end point really speed up the piro rate? I have it set soo the slider does not bind. Somthing like 50%. No my radio does not have a free mix to mix out the gyro at the ends of the rudder travel.

I got a set of carbon tail blades from a buddy. Just have to wait for the weather to test. Plus i just went 2.4ghz soo really looking forward to the next flight.

are you usi ng a DX7? I have found the telebee needs to set at zero on the gyro and 86% on the radio. I have super fast piro's both ways. Servo mechaically set with no bnding at full throw.

hope it helps...

For the SE mine was way tail heavy as well. To get the CG right, I have my batt on the upper tray 2150 15C pack 142 grams. I also put my GY401 on the lower tray near the motor, yeah I know should be at least 10cm away to prevent glitches, have not seen a problem yet, other than drift. I mounted my RX on the bottom of the battery plate. ESC is mounted in the rear inside the body, right under the main gear, gets lots of airflow to keep cool, and I extended the battery leads to reach up front to the battery. I now have almost perfect balance, if I can move the RX about 2-3 CM further fwd will be dead on. I have some left over black ABS I might make an extended battery tray out of to be able ot move the RX fwd some.

I have not done much inverted flight, so don't know if my trims will be ok there. At this point with the sub trims set to get everything centered, I think I have one click of ele trim to keep it level in a hover.

Maybe RaserX's suggestion for the GYRO will work, I have the 401 so can't help there.

Ok, i got a test hop this morning. love these new carbon tail blades. Upped the piro rate a bunch.

Not sure why but moving the pack up on the batt tray really cleans up the rolls. Nice and smooth and trimmed out better upright/inverted. Does'nt stop in the rolls now. The more i fly this thing the more i love it.

The rolls are better because the center of gravity is moved closer to the rotor head (pivot point of a rolls and flips).

I absolutely love the 450S I have. I can throw it around like crazy...now if I can just keep it in the air....lol.

Slow piros on a Trex!? I didn't know they were capable of doing them slowly! I barely touch the sticks on mine and it's flipped around 180 even in normal mode! I really like the fast responses of this heli. I can only imagine what it's like to fly the 600!!!

Here is a vid of my 1st and 2nd pack ever in the heli (other then the one pack hovering to get it trimmed) so there really is not much to see, one ugly loop and a roll that just stopped in mid air. But, the piro you see are FULL STICK piros. Really shows how slow the piro rate was. Now my piro rate looks like the vids i see on line.
