Default when is time to push it more?????

Hi guys..... I am a newbie, I have crashed 19 times and I have had 98 successful flights..... It has been maybe 20 flights I don't crash, I am pretty good with FF, nose in and 8's, I fly fast, slow, high, low.... getting better.... when is time to start doing rolls, loops and flying inverted?????? I can do everything pretty easily in the SIM, but you know it's a bit difference to have the nervous to do it on real!..... when am I gonna be ready????? in what order should I start ?????? (loops, interted and then rolls????)

Thanks!

Hi, matador_24. I am curious about something. I am a TREX n00b right now. I have only been able to fly her a few times in my front yard and, I confess, in my basement and garage. All I was doing was hovering and getting the feel of the Heli. How long did it take you to get to the point where you are thinking about doing 3D?

Good question... I hadn't asked that myself.... from just hovering doing nothing to ff, nose in and 8's, maybe 50flights (3 months aprox) and now, after 48 flights (in 2 months) with ff, nose in and 8's I am feeling encouraged to do some loops, rolls and inverted, not sure if I am ready though. Man, if you have been just hovering in your garage and basement, you will love the t-rex when you fly high and fast in all directions... it's just amazing the feeling.

Can anyone still suggest me about my question above???? thankssssssss

if you are good on all orientations in normal... go for it.. just a simple loop or roll with some negative will give you a feel for it... then just progress from there.... but if you dont have the orientation yet... better practice.. you get easily disoriented when inverted...

i think someone said when you can do it 100 times in a sim perfect then go ahead and do the real deal.

i just statrted a sim last night, its the most flying ive done so far a month into helis. i must say when my heli is up and running again i think i can raise my 20 seconds in the air [real time] to a battery pack now. we,ll see lol

I know! In the sim, I am flying in a big field and doing pretty well. I can't wait to do that for real!!

I started my loops, rolls, and flips after I could fly figure 8's in both directions, complete nice stall turns, fly very large constant banking circles in both directions, and felt very comfortable in all orientations. After that I felt like what the heck and just went for it and so far so good. I did crash last week, but that was due to loosing orientation while attempting an iverted nose in hover. I need some more time on the sim to get competent at that.

I say just go for it!! What is the worst that could happen? You crash.[:@] Ohh well just rebuild it and try again.

Interesting answers..... the only thing I fail sometimes in the SIM is flying inverted, you know, loosing orientation... but I think that it is more advance... isn't it????? I would think that I can start with loops and then when I master it, maybe rolls.... am I right????? I think flying inverted is more complicated for the orientation but loops and rolls are just to make the heli to follow a different trayectory and then you easily go back to the normal position... can anybody suggest something about it???? Do I really have to master the inverted flying before doing loops and rolls????

Thanks

You must have misunderstood me. You don't have to master inverted to loop and roll. I have only begun to learn inverted hovering, I can hold it for about 10 seconds or so, but have been looping, rolling, and flipping for about 6 or 7 weeks now. If you never get disoriented right side up just go for it. Get into some fast forward flight at least 50' high and pull back on the right stick and pretend your are flying your sim.

Thanks, I understood, just one question more, I have a DX7, according with Bob finless videos... it's good for a beginner to set the swash mix at aileron 35%, elevator 35% aprox., if it's increased to 50-60% or so, the swashplate is more sensitive.. is it right???? at this moment my set up is ail 35%, elev 35%..... should I increase it to 50% in both in order to do the loops and rolls or better to keep it that way????? what is your set up in that????

Thanks...

ALSO make sure double check somehow, that your bird has enough negative pitch to be inverted without losing altitude...

As per Jermo's videos on the DX7, you should alwys start with the default values of 60% for elevator, aileron and pitch. If memory serves, that is the setup that I am running and I get +/- 10 degrees pitch with no binding. I think that Finless uses a Futaba in his videos, so it's different.

My elevator and aileron are setup at 35% right now and I am not having any trouble. I have my head setup to give me +11 to -11 in idleup. You really don't need much negative pitch for basic loops and rolls. I only get slightly below midstick on the top of my loops and rolls. Check out the [link=http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=12337]Flight Training Videos on Helifreak[/link]. Finless is flying basic loops and rolls and has video of his transmitter imbeded in the corner. Finless and the video do a good job of showing how to do these moves.

I did it!... I finally had the guts, [>:] and I did it, hehehehe, but I crashed at the end.... I did the first loop correctly and then the others, I was giving too much negative pitch to see how powerful the heli was holding the heli inverted, that is why the other loops look pretty bad...... it's amazing, it seems to have lots of power and the battery is $ 30dlls cheap 15C no brand, cool, I can't imagine what it would do with a 25C!..... I was pretty nervous and at the end, I was trying to do a roll but the heli was too far and I lost orientation...... at least I tried , I think it's gonna get better after some flies and crashes, I was lucky the heli wasn't very damaged because it fell on snow, however, I'll try it tomorrow to see if the electronics work fine because they got wet with the snow. I can't wait to try it again, loops don't seem to be too hard, now that I saw the power of the heli while inverted, I can get the right model in my SIM and practice more. It's just really cool!!!!! I can't wait to do it again, and to try rolls and more stuff, it's really just something else!!!!!!

Here is the links of the today's videos, just remember I am a newbie and I was pretty nervous, however, the heli performs very well..

The first link is the warming up of nervous, I flew 2 batt packs before, sadly, my other 2 packs are 15c and 18c but they are almost dying and they don't give enough current to the heli, however, it can fly very well with them, my 3d battery is a 15C as well but it's newer and with lots of power!!!! that means I just have one battery to try loops and stuff, I guess that by the time I learn how to make many tricks, one battery will be enough for it for now.

The second link is with the "loops" and the crash.... this video is pretty hilarious because my GF was filming them and she doesn't stop talking, also, she gets desperated when the heli is "close" to her (very far since my point of view, but she panics, hehehehe)....

P.S. Excellent flying conditions.... -20 (well, not that nice), and 7kms/hr wind, great!!!

Nice. I too am starting to dip my toe in 3d. I've only been flying for about a month (but lots of sim time). I can do flips and roll's (both stationary and in fwd flight). Might try a loop after watching yours, man you start those pretty low. One thing I do differently is fly the heli perpendicular to me, it looks like you fly it it out and back trying your loops. Flying it sideways helps me keep it in view easier, with my old eyes need all the help I can get. I would probably lose orientation pretty fast going out and back. The crash looks like it didn't even break the blades. I had one (doing level 8's) the other day that looked half as hard as yours, main shaft, tail boom, and blades (carbon fiber, ouch) all trashed, maybe I need to find some snow, LOL. Pretty low odds here down in Texas though....

Yes, the crash wasn't hard, I was impressed [8D] I just had to replace main and shafering shafts, main gear and GEARS of the elevator servo (HS65)... I can't fly because I don't have the gears yet, I ordered them last week and they should be here these days. It has been 3 times I have to replace the gears, this time I ordered the metal gears set, I hope that is gonna solve that problem, because before I was replacing with the karbonita gears.

At the beginning, I learned to fly having the helicopter infront of me, that is why when I am gonna try something new, I prefer to do it this way and after, if it works I try it from different positions.

I can't wait to give it a try again!!!!
