You just simply yank out that little aluminum drum that rests on top of the belt, screw it back together;that's all.
People here are pretty divided on lubing the belt; I'm a little scared to and I'm not having any problems since taking off the idler drum, I don't want to jinx it.
Kinda a b#%^ to replace the belt! I wonder how long they are supposed to last, anyway.

He grinds off some of the upstop for the rear rotor, that's all. The problem has been rectified at the factory since then with the Version 2, if I recollect right. It hasn't anything to do with the belt.

Why are you guys grinding stuff? LOL
The idler pulley is not the problem. The plastic SA tail case has many issues. Correct belt tension is also important. The tail boom does move slightly from vibration so use a small amount of thin CA to hold it. A slight twist of the boom will break it loose for maint. or repair.

Do you have a pic of the little aluminum drum your talking about ? I haven't had to much time to research on here about my Trex, still down here in Cali by Pismo beach area and is sucking my time up working...! But I haven't had any tail issues yet, but in case, or even for some prevenative measures, I would like to know about the mod or removal of this piece, just don't understand... I don't want to go taking the wrong thing apart...Lol..
Can you still believe I've only burned 16 packs through it ?!! It's been about two months ! Still new..LMAO ! -- Jeff

nevermind, the LHS put the heli back together, he told me that my back servo ds285 burned out, the elevator one, i wonder how it burned out? maybe that caused my heli to crash.

Check the tail drive pulley & gear. This also happened to me however I was fortunate to get back on the ground before anything was damaged. The gear may look fine but until you take it out of its case you cant be sure. a lot of work for a little gear but better safe than broke.
