You could find that the exhaust restriction from the Pits type silencer is causing a back pressure and resulting overheating, go for a cannister it may help.

RE: NEW Hangar 9 85cc SU-26MM Sukhoi
Hi all, did any one notice that they had to put in up thrust on a Da-85?
Also for curiousity what are some weights out there? Mine is without pilot or wheelpants and no spinner 20.5 pounds dry. Gear on plane is two 2 cell 2100 thunder power for reciever, one 2 cell 2100 for ignition w/ fromeco reg,3 smartfly switches, smartfly EQ6 w/ turbo reg, JR9100 reciever, hitec 5955's w/ JR 8711 for rudder, DA-85 W/ slimline Pitts 1 servo for throttle and choke, carbon wing tube(troy built models tbm)don't forget to cut the length, xoar 26x10 2 blade prop.
I got 11 flights on it. It's ballistic!!!!!!!!!
out of box Da-85 ran strong haven't touched the needles yet 10 min flights less than a half of tank gas used each flight, scary !!!! I'm tempted to switch to a 20 ounce gas tank w/ gas stopper.

Thanks for the replys. That pitts muffler did cut a lot of ower away from the engine Ihad to richen both needles almost 1 1/2 turns to get it to run. I just cut the end of the muffer off and the 2 outlets are all the way to the top inside of the can part. I cut them off and I'm gonna weld the end back on and go from there.....

I put in some washers behind the da-85 to give it up thrust because mine too would go towards the ground when throttle was applied and when in KE, it would go toward belly. After the washers were put in it does it a lot less about half way less. I'm going to do one more washer on each side to give it more up thrust. I also have it cg'd at 8 ". I'm going to in time make it more tail heavy. Maybe 8 and half inch's back

I have one of these Sukhoi's with a 110 BME in it. It is the all time best H-9 design in my opinion. Mine weighs 19lbs dry with one 3000 2s lipo for the receiver and ignition. It turns a 26X10 NX prop at 8400 on the ground. It truly is the best multi purpose plane I have had.

The cowl hides the welds but you are right, I should have cleaned them up.

Hey Mike...I'm about half way done with my new Sukhoi SU26MM and ready to start thinking about my exhaust system. I have read the forums and see a couple of different views on what to use. I want to use a canister muffler system and was wanting to know your suggestion on the right canister muffler to use with my Sukhoi / DA-85 combo? Any help here will be fully appreciated. [8D]

The exaust is very light as I removed the threaded metal pipe and welded the rest directly onto the exaust hedder. It is about the same sound as factory mufflers.
My buddie has a Suburban and although it may look bigger it has less room than the van.
Was thinking about a Sprinter.

Ok Guys...need your feedback. I just checked the CG on my plane at 7 3/4 dry. The plane noses slightly down at about 3 to 5 degrees. Now I don't really do 3D, I want the plane more for IMAC. So what are your thoughts or comments here?

I might get beat up here, but I did'nt balance mine. I put everything in it's place according to the manual. 2 2500 nimah's in the slots, the ignition battery on top of the firewall box and a zdz80 with a pitts muffler up front...It flew awesome like this..It actually may be a slight bit nose heavy for my liking. I prefer a slightly tail heavy big bird...When I roll her inverted, I have to hold a slight bit of down elevator in it...Also when I flew it, at full throttle level flight, it wanted to drop the nose toward the ground. I loosened the engine and put 2 washers on the 2 bottom bolts between the engine and the firewall to give it a little upthrust. It flies really good with absolutely no bad tendencies.......

Less room? No way....Maybe he has a tahoe..I can haul my sukhoi with the stabs off, my tripane, and my 2 kids in the back seat...My first back seat folds down in two seperate places and the 3rd back eat folds down or I can remove it...On the down side, it's about $125.00 to fill her up at #3.35 a gallon..[]

Hey guys just wanted to give an update my hardpoint on both ailrons went bad. I caught it before i went up. The Aileron was waiving at me when I had started the engine. I had about 30 flights on it. There is not that much glue holding the nice soft balsa. It's not even a hardwood block. I called hangar 9 they sounded like they had never heard of the problem. No notes that there working on a solution. There currently out of wings and don't have a date for them. So fix your hard points if you don't want to lose a plane or be down.

I heard about the hard oints not being very hard.....I used a hyperdermic needle loaded with some thin c-a and shot some ito the block of wood and all around it...So far no issues..I really did'nt want to cut into the aileron and have a covering patch...

This is my setup. Very simple, easy to install and work flawlessly! On the carb end it has a 440 threaded ball-link. Hope this helps.
