Default Raptor 50 or 60?

Our local tax man has been very kind to me and sent me a cheque which is burning a hole in my pocket. My dilemma is what to do with it! I'm looking to upgrade from my Rappy 30v2, but can't decide on a R50 or 60. Some friends have 90's, but I'm not sure if the extra expense is worth it. I'm not into 3D, just a bit of pottering about, maybe eventually moving to the scale side of things. What's the major differences between the 50 & 60? Any suggestions please!

The 60 is slightly larger than the 50. It is very close to the 90's size.....just a few minor differences. The 50's going to be cheaper to crash (by far). The 60 will auto much better. You said you're not into 3D much and that you're thinking about getting into scale someday so I'd say go with the 60. It's larger and more stable. If you decide in the future you want to do some hardcore 3D with it then you can always upgrade to a 90 with a conversion kit that heliproz.com sells.

I Agree With Inferno On this one, The Raptor 50 Is Much Cheaper To Crash, It Is Also Much More of A 3D Capable Machine With a better Power To Weight Ratio Then The R60v2 Or even the R90. In My Opionion I would Go With A R50v2, but i would also never be doing scale flying. Check With your Local Hobby Shop to see that they carry the parts for the heli you are thinking of getting, you dont ever want to be stuck waiting a week for a screw or a flybar because you cant get it at the local shop... I agree... the 50 should be cheaper to fly/crash... and if you already have a 30V2, you should be able to upgrade it to a 50V2 for much less $$ than buying a 50 or 60... then you'll still have some of that tax money burning a hole in your pocket aftwards!

If you've never flown a 60, treat yourself. The bigger heli is much smoother and more stable. For hovering and cruising around, as well as scale applications you can't do better. Except maybe a gasser.

The R50 is a hotrod 3D machine based on the 30. Powerful and very responsive.

if you see yourself being a hotdog 3d pilot go for a 50v2, if you see yourself as more of a slow weekend scale flyer go for the 60, although the 60 is 3d capable it's very much more difficult to pull off the same moves as smoothly with less power, and the 50 will hands down whip the crap out of a 60 for power to weight which is really nice, while the 60 will offer you a smoothness and stability which the 50 lacks and thats simply because of the higher weight and blades on the 60.

Does having the OS70 instead of the OS60 make it much better in the power to weight ratio????????

A couple of the guys at the club have 70's in their Rappys and they just haul ***** !!!! They also look so much more stable in the wind.
