Windex is abrasive and will put tiny scratches in your plastic covering.
I use 45%: 99% isopropyl drugstore alcohol
45%: water
10%: Simple Green or similar degreaser.
Use rags and not paper towels on the plane. Paper fibers are also abrasive.
Regards.

So, to answer your question, it seems like everyone knows the formula for wipe-down spray. A different formula from everybody else, however.
A lot of people use baby wipes. I like my mix (see above) cause I only have to use a little and I can wash and reuse the rags..
Why don't you go to the field, find the flyer with the nicest looking covering (no scratches or dullness) and ask what they use?
Regards.

Its kinda nasty but 30% ammonia and 70% alcohol. Denatured or isopropal. You can actually see the oil breaking down when you spray it on. I dont know why but it seems to work awesome. My brother and I actually used that combo for another application too. We had the aleron of his funtana get warped so we uncovered it clamped it straight and sprayed it for 3 nights with that solution let dry for 2 more and done. It straightened out the wood perfectly.

I had been using the 69 cent/gallon winter windshield washer fluid as well. I added the 2 tablespoons of dishwashing liquid as suggested and wow! does this ever clean! It is literally getting my planes and choppers "squeaky clean".

I just use plain methanol, the one you can buy at a do-it-yourself shop, very cheap. Works very good, better than anything else I have tried.
