Need Help With Stringers

Hello, I have a Sterling Models "Cirrus" Sailplane kit with lots of stringers down the fuselage and I would like to get it right. I thought of tracing the plans to make side profile templates, but the two views shown of course, are not the stringers at all. They are die cut formers that make the "box" of the fuselage. But it got me thinking of making templates anyway "freehand" to help keep the left and right sides symetrical at least even if wrong if you will.
Has anyone tried using drawn and cut templates for taping each stringer strip to, and then being met up with the bulkhead formers to be glued, or am I better off just eyeballing it as I glue? Whats the trick?

If the formers are cut right, just eyeball it as it's a lot easer and quicker. Or make up a heap of temp spacers for the stringers to get both sides the same if the stringers are glued to the sides of the fuse.
