Default OS Drive washers

Hey guys and Gals!

I have NEVER had any REAL success with Installing the OS (46SF especially) Drive washer back onto the crankshaft after changing bearings. I have a puller for removal, but there has to be a trick to getting them back on! I know I "bake" the block to remove the bearings and wasn't sure if "baking" the Drive washer would be of any benefit or not. Do they make a tool for reinstalling or what? I have ruined more than one trying to re-install, and this perticular drive washer is getting hard to find. H-E-L-P

.....Welcome to R/C Universe, Slide....[sm=thumbup.gif]

....it should go back into position when you tighten the prop back down tight.

I've tried that with some success, but usually end up driving the nut thru the prop. I think i figures out today however, in my Idiocy, I was trying to drive it down with just the prop and the nut (without the prop washer) I just thought there should be an easier way. Thanks for the Reply and upon my next bearing change, I will try the prop washer on top next time By the way (which may require another post) anybody know where to buy good, discontinued OS Parts for the 46Sf (ringed) or bigger OS ringed engines such as Drive washers and 4D carbs? I don't know why they quit making the OS 46SF, I can say that is the best enging I have EVER used on a 40 size (ultra stick or my Mustang) any URL's would be appreciated.

....yep, be sure to use the washer next time.

Those are good running engines. Check this clunker I got a few years back I looks
like the worst old neglected piece of junk on the Planet. It turned out, the engine is
in super primo shape....it just needed some TLC. I just cleaned it up a couple weeks
ago. It runs like a top, and looks mint.

The bearings were protected all those years by a coating of castor oil. No rust.

I think Tower has the carbs. Gotta look for them, but they do offer some of the older ones that aren't on current engines.

If you like the 46FS, the 46AX does pretty good and the 55AX has the same critical measurements including weight and is pretty good too.

I just fell in love with the "ringed" engines. ABC 's are good as well I guess, just something about a ring.
Thanks for all the info guys!
