Hey builder!
I don't currently own any R/C equipment or have any reference material on it. I have a general question on hook-up. Is there a common channel usage for the various functions. Like channel #1 is ALWAY throttle?

One of my Futaba manuals lists the following. It may not apply to all transmitters, however.

Channel 1 - Aileron
Channel 2 - Elevator
Channel 3 - Throttle
Channel 4 - Rudder
Channel 5 - Landing gear
Channel 6 - Flaps
Channel 7 - Aux.

As Laird said, that is the channel guide for Futaba and all Futaba radios are pretty much set up that way. But it's not that way for every radio. Each manufacturer has their own standard that they follow, so you'll have have to reference the manual for the brand of radio that you are going to use.

i recently bought a futaba after using JR for a long time and the channels were completely different from what i am used to. if you can get a hold of a manual that would be your best option for finding out. alot of times a google search will get you a pdf of your particular manual. if you have the model and manufacturer i can probably find a manual i can send you if you are unable to find one in google.

i used to have an old 6 channel futaba conquest and couldnt find the manual. good to see the radio companies keep them on their sites i used to have to dig around for manuals. my hanger 9 matt chapman cap i bought at a swap meet in edmond and horizon didnt have the manual anymore thankfully someone on RCU had it and emailed me a copy.

ps just found the manual for it. the model was a 6NFK. i had to find the manual elsewhere when i found it before.

I tried to make it up to the swap meet in Edmond last year, but couldn't make it because of other things popping up. Is it worth the trip up there for the meet??

it was the last few times i went because of the amount of stuff that get brought to it. large scale sport 40 to 120 size engines radios etc. its one of the biggest around in oklahoma that i have been too. i went to the one in prague just this month to sell some of my stuff to get a new futaba 2.4 7C. i am hoping to go to this year to the edmond one as well maybe see what i can get a used saito 100 for.

I'll definitely have to make it this year. Do you have the date on it??

We used go to the one in Wichita Falls, Tx all the time, but it's pretty much dwindled down to where it wasn't worth going anymore.

NEW SUBJECT: what is the best way to provide the aileron servo wiring setup, where do you get the reversal

i prefer to use separate channels for my ailerons because i have had problems with Y harnesses failing when i got out to the field. never caused a crash because i caught it before something bad happened but it stopped me from flying. on a 6 chanel radio most modern computer radios you can use one of the auxiliary channels and program flaperons in. what that does is the radio treats both channels as ailerons and if you choose to you can hit the flaps button and it lowers both ailerons for a flap. i never use the flap function just use it for separate aileron channels. the y harness you have a y shaped extension that you plug into one channel and the other two ends into the servos. its mainly personal preference i suppose because some people swear by one or the other. I would suggest you find the one method that works better for you.

You do not need manuals for determining channels. Just plug a servo into each slot and see which transmitter stick moves it.

Swap Meet, March 21-22, 2008

Driving directions: From Interstate Highway 20 Exit 406, go north on Bowie Street to the four-way stop. At the four-way stop turn right onto Charles Street, the school will be on your left.

Entry fee is $5.00 for adults each day and free for children under 12. Table rental is $10 per day or $15 per day for reserved tables. Concessions are available both days with sandwiches, hot dogs, soft drinks and other foods.

On Friday March 21, we start the setup at 5:00 PM with a great swap/trade night for all the modeling enthusiast that cannot make it on Saturday. This is not to say it is a small group of people. Many good deals are made on Friday which runs until 9:00PM. You may leave items over night in the building.

Saturday March 22 we start at 8:00AM and go until the last radio is raffled off after the auction which is around 3:30 - 4:00. Auction starts about Noon. Many hours of great deals and trades. Even if you don't need anything this event is something just to observe. You see things about modeling you did not know about or had not seen is many years. Also, a Security Patrol is provided while the meet is in progress.

Saturday auction starts at noon, and goes until we run out of items. WAMS collect a 10% sellers fee if the item is sold. No charge for no sales. Items can only be auctioned once. We except items for auction up to the time it starts. We auction in order that the items are received. So, if you need to leave early or need money to bid on another item register your item early.

We have always had great radios to raffle because people like winning one and for a small investment you could go home with a new 6 channel radio. There are 2 radios raffled off. The first goes at the start of the auction. The second goes after the auction is over. Every paid admission ticket includes an entry into the drawing for a Futaba radio. You need not be present to win. Additional tickets for the drawings are available for $1.00 each or 12 tickets for $10.00.

Honestly, I'll see what I can do. Thing are busy for us in the next couple months because we are having to setup a brand new flying field. So we may be doing work weekends depending on the weather.

why are you having to set-up a new field? did the Lawton club have to move? I used to fly at the shawnee club and they had to move their runway 200 feet south of where it was because a neighbour complained to AMA that they were flying over his property and he wanted it stopped.

There was a field located on Ft. Sill that has been used for 40 years. This year the Army decided they have a better use for the land. The actually got a bit crappy about it. They did offer us an alternate piece of land, but it was stuck out in the middle of nowhere and "barely" usable. So we did some hunting and located 80 acres off post that we are leasing now. We are building a new runway using ProPex material which we are actually going to come out with a better field than we ever had on Ft. Sill. Our new runway is going to be 40'x400' and setup so that it can be flown both morning and evenings!!!!
