If I'm in the wrong area please excuse me. Newto the forum and just wasn't sure exactly where this quesiton fit. I currently have a 14x6 Master Airscrew on my Hog Bipe with a magnum .91 4 stroke. Iam not getting the vertical i need. At full throttle it will sit and hover with just a little backup (which looks great to everyone except me) but I hav e no thrust to pull straight out. At best I can full rudder and get a lazy hammer head out of it. I was considering a 15 X 4 wide as Ihad a great deal of success with that prop on my .90 UCANDO.
Do you think Ihave this plane underpowered for 3D or is there a better prop selection for me?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Well,,,
I don't think a Hog Bipe will ever be a 3D machine,, but I like to run a 13-8 on my 91 4c engines
good luck

I agree that it is not an ideal 3Dplane. Just a good intro bipe for me. I am going to purchase either a 100cc Ultimate, Python or Beast. This was just one to get my feet wet. Even in knfe edge it takes so much counter aileron it is just not the best plane for serious 3Dbut I do like to try. I think that being able to pull off "tricks" wtih a plane that wasn't designed for them really build some skills. ( like hovering a cub for example). I appreciate the input. Anythoughts on a bigger 4 stroke like a 1.20? Obviously throttle managment will become much, much more important with that set-up but it may be the solution for my verticle issues.

Hi!
Yes! A 15x4 APC will work just fine. I use that prop size on my Great Planes "GEE BEE R-2" powered by a 15cc two stroke.
I even use (Best prop for it) a 16x4W APC on my You-Can-Do .60 powered by a MVVS 15cc (.91) two stroke using 5% nitro and 15% All synthetic oil.

My experiance is that 4 stroke engines really don't like to spin up that much,, that's why I never run less than an 8 pitch with mine

On my .90 size UCANDOI have a Saito 100 and the 15x4W is just perfect. To me however... Saito vs Magnum is apples to oranges.

I think you will need a couple props-one for when your trying to hover that plane and one for just sport flying. I found on 91's a 14x7 APC gives a good combo of thrust, speed. Keeps the rpms under 10K (mid to low 9's). I bet you'll settle with something like that and save your hovering for another plane, Unless that bipe in under 7lbs.
No one prop will do it all for that setup, but a 14x7 would be close.

A Saito 1.00 would certainly improve your performance but, as mentioned, the Hog-Bipe is not designed for 3D. If you enjoy pushing a plane to it's limits try a rolling circle or perfect horizon to horizon knife edge. More appropriate for that plane.
