Tamiya makes a flat base. It's for adding to their line of acrylics to make flat paint. I didn't realize that and bought four bottles of the stuff. It's enough to make a ton of flat paint.

Anyway, you might want to see if it will mix. It probably won't since it goes in water based acrylics, but it's only a couple bucks to find out.

I just had some Graphics printed up on self adhesive vinyl. I tried the Top Flight lustercoat clear to seal the ink and the edges of the decal, and woe is me, the paint caused the vial to curl up. Do you know if the engine clear coat is ok on vinyl?

Thanks

PigMan - I know for a fact that two-part clear urethane is not only fuel proof, but can be sprayed on vinyl.

Sorry, not much of a painter, Is there a particular brand I should pick up? Does it come in a can, or will I have to have my own spray system?

Thanks

It's automotive paint (top coat). You have to buy it in cans, mix it and spray it. You'll need the two parts plus the reducer. It's pretty expensive and I think you can only buy it by the quart (each part). Maybe you can go in on the clear with a buddy and split it up. It is crystal clear though and very fuel proof. Good stuff.

i know what some of the guys have done .they have gone to some of the smaller body shops and if they had what they wanted clear coated taped and ready to spray they let them do it at the body shop when they were doing a car cost very little and got a professional job.on some of the heli canopies they didn't charge any thing can't beat that.(i think if your not in a rush and can wait for the next clear coat job on the car they are going to do might determine how much)
