OFFICIAL JUMPING THREAD!
I thought it would be a good idea to give eachother tips for jumping. Many of us (myself, and others) are new to R/C... even if we're not... we're new to MT's... We buy these MT's to have fun with... and bash and jump, and such... but we don't know the tricks of the trade. I thought we could all share different tips and tricks to landing jumps without breaking stuff! I, personally, have learned how to flip the truck.... either forwards or backwards... and land.
I'll start. When jumping, if you are new to jumping... hit the jump at a slower speed until you get the hang of it... and you know where the ramp is going to take you. When I built my ramp, I did not realize that I would have such a lift on it that it would take my truck practically STRAIGHT up in the air 10-15 feet. Luckily, I took it easy the first time, and got a little lift. Of course, I didn't know how to land it correctly, so it did a few cartwheels, and somersaults. Then, I got more of the hang of it, and I could land it on all-4's. Then, I decided to try flipping it. I started with a front-flip, since that seemed to be the easiest (just had to hit the brake)... I found that it is harder to control a front flip than a back flip, however. Basically, all you do is... after getting in the air, simply hit the brake until the truck has gone all the way around... if you go too far, you can hit the gas to bring it back, however if you hit the ground full-throttle, you have more of a chance of breaking stuff (might as well just let it land on the bumper...). To perform a back flip, hit the ramp... let off a little, then full-throttle through the flip... and get it all the way around. I have found it's easier to hit the backflip if I'm not in second gear... or at the top of first gear, then when I hit the ramp and throttle it, it hits second and gives me the torque to flip the truck around.
Alright... I have my part done... who's next?

I'll have to find this video I had of someone from traxxas going full speed across a parking lot, hittin a ramp, flying 100+ feet and landin a backflip perfect. On concrete. lol
Here's the direct link for now, I will upload it to my site later.

well I have found out that with my revo when you are jumping a curved ramp, the truck likes you to give it a little bit of gas after you launch off the jump, the revo tends to want to tilt the nose down when in the air.

Yes... I noticed that too... when I first started jumping... it liked to nose-down if I didn't do anything... basically, I just would hit the ramp, and let off the gas... and it would nosedive. so, keep it gassed a little to keep the nose up... see, that's what I'm talking about... there's the LITTLE things that matter.

I can tell u this, if u plan on jumping be prepared to break things. 8 out of 10 times i went out jumping i broke something. Motor mounts, a-arms, turnbuckles bent skid plate etc. Its a blast though!

RE: OFFICIAL JUMPING THREAD!
make sure your brakes arent dragging at all. the slightest bit of dragbrake will make the nose dive. although, i have also experienced the nosedive you are talking about, but i havent been able to jump often, cause my favorite jump is in my friends yard, a few miles away. so i dont know if the problem can be cured.

I think my brakes drag a little, but... when I was jumping it ... they didn't... which is why they might drag a LITTLE... (I tightened them up...)

RE: OFFICIAL JUMPING THREAD!
well, i had a savage first, and used the excuse of racing to buy my revo. now my revo is my favorite truck and sees most of the action. anyway, so now that i have 2 dedicated race vehicles, i used that logic to upgrade to the jr xs3 pro, so i dont have to argue over a channel with anyone at the track.

RE: OFFICIAL JUMPING THREAD!
you got problem with the brakes draging try putting a peice of fuel tubbing about 5mm long on the screw in between the break pads that will keep them off the disc while off the throttle

RE: OFFICIAL JUMPING THREAD!
check this one out...
1) hit the jump at fast speed
2) let go of throttle just before the revo hits the top lip of the jump
3) turn wheels in one direction and burst the throttle.
I have found that the faster you go the easyer it is
.... a Barrel roll is so awsome....
Warning [X(]
Over roll will crush the back of the body and may kill you exhaust header! ouch!
Under roll kills the front right a-arm!
... but damm its fun!

RE: OFFICIAL JUMPING THREAD!
I tried it today... didn't work, but I might not have been doing it right... I think something was screwy with my Revo tonight, anyways... after landing hard, it started to whine a little... I checked the spur, no problems... Only thing I could see is maybe it was too tight against the CB... I'll have to check it tomorrow...

RE: OFFICIAL JUMPING THREAD!
my personal advise is get a huge pile of dirt...... build a small jump and mast that and then add onto that jump till u get one that is just right for u cause then u went from small to big at the same speed only gaining more air each time to learn how to jump....... all that made sense in my head cause it 3:00 in the morning and im tired but if it dont to u same reason it made sense to me
