Default Dynamite Failsafe question

Hi,

I have just installed a Venom 5-cell hump pack for my T-maxx receiver. I am charging it with a pro-peak Xing charger. When the battery pack is charged the voltage is greater than 6volts - approx 6.7v. The dynamite race guard failsafe does not like this and prevents the throttle servo from working - it just glitches. The only way I can get the failsafe to work is to operate the steering servo until the voltage drops to below 6.5volts. Then the throttle servo works ok and the failsafe works as intended.
Has anyone seen this type of problem or give me ideas on how to fix it?

Thanks in advance,

Austin

It's not uncommon for 6V packs to give receivers, servo's, fail safes and so on fit's when fresh of the charger... you can deal with this as you are by operating the servo's until the voltage drops off enough to stop the failsafe acting up... you could also let the battery sit for an hour or so after you charge it... they will typically self discharge enough in an hour to a low enough voltage to not give you the chattering. the only other option is to install a 6V regulator that keeps the voltage to your electronics stable at 6v no matter what the battery voltage is.

Thanks John for the response - it is appreciated.

I had thought of installing a regulator but they are not that efficient. I had also searched this forum, the traxxas forum and google and could not find any info on the problems I'm experiencing - if it were normal I would have thought many people would be experiencing the same thing. Working the steering servo gets me by for now but it's a pain - it can take 10 minutes to get the voltage low enough and I feel that I am wasting cell energy.

I have just found another couple of posts from people having the same problem with a dynamite failsafe.
Do other failsafe brands exhibit these problems? If not I will buy another brand.

Thanks stilllost,

I tried going to dynamite's website but there are no contact details etc.

In the meantime I have ordered a venom failsafe so hopefully it will work with the hump pack voltage.

Yeah dynamite does not make good failsafes.
I had one on my sportmaxx for awhile, i thought the servo was broken, but it was the failsafe preventing me from using the throttle and/or brake.
Get a venom failsafe, i have one now, and im very satisfied.

I'm glad to hear that the Venom failsafe works as intended. I should have it by Tuesday.
