Default How to get these apart.

My tranny finally blew. I got another one and went to put it in. I also got a rear metal drive shaft. But i need to take the old black drive shaft apart so it can go on the front. How do i take it off? I mean so there in 2 different peices.

Not sure if I understand what you're talking about, but...

there are little things that look like set screws (except they go all the way through) where the shafts connect to the transmission output shaft...

That removes the driveshaft from the tranny... the drive shaft is made of two pieces that are keyed, they slide apart when you pull them.

Also try reading your owners maual. there are some really good exploded views somewhere near the middle.

Im talking about that bottem drive shaft part. How do i get that apart. And my manuel, my friend took it home last night to use it!

Are you talking about the U-Joints? They are held together by a couple e-clips. You need to remove them then push the pins out the opposite end.

you shouldnt need to take it apart, just slide it into the cup as you lower your tranny into the cassis.

Ok im sort of gettting it. The front one is hooked up, but how do i hook up the back. The back i am using that metal shaft.

Dude the 2 pieces in the pic you have above arnt compatable, when you got the metal shaft it should of came with a black cup too. Like the 2 cups in the top right of this pic.
