Default Revo shifts, but sounds like the clutch is loose.

When I start my Revo, for the first few minutes, when shifting to second gear, it sounds like the slipper clutch is very loose. It's like when shifting gear with a real car, but you don't let go of the clutch.

After 5-6 minutes and a few high speed passes, the gear shifting sounds great. It's like normal gear shifting.

At first I thought it might be the slipper clutch, but if it was, it would be doing it all the time right? Not just for the first 5-6 minutes.

Any idea what could be causing this?

your clutch shoes and clutchbell are building up a glaze...pull them apart and rough em back up with some steel wool or fine grain sandpaper

What if I upgrade to an aluminum clutch? How would that affect the Revo?

aluminum clutch shoes should last longer, i'd think. are you considering a 3 shoe?

To have a 3 shoe, I'll also have to change the fly wheel. So I guess I'll go with the 2 piece one.

The thing that troubles me though is the fact that I had this problem since day 1. But I paid no attention because it always gets fixed after a few minutes. So maybe it's not the clutch?

Maybe it is only happening until the motor warms up? Is it everytime you start it up or just that one time in the first tank?

I haven't really noticed, but I think it's all the tanks. Because when I'm at the track, I drive other cars, so it cools off for at least 45 minutes between tanks. But what's the engine have to do with it? It's still very fast, it's just the shifting gear that has a problem.

Well you said it happens in the first 5-6 mins of running, so I figured it would be cold and just warming up. Maybe its just that simple? Because when the motor is cold its doesn't run as smooth as it does warmed up.

I'll try to make a video of it this weekend if I get the chance. Maybe that will help.

it is the slipper clutch that is slipping, you see the clutch just like all other parts has an operating temp, once the clutch gets to it's operating temp it will work properly, before then it will slip, just gonna have to live with it, you need to warm the truck up before you get into the fast stuff, nt just the engine, the breaks, clutch and transmission.

Ok, that sounds logical. So if I tight the slipper a bit, I'll be having a problem later when it gets to operating temperature. It will be too tight.

Are all cars like that? Because with my RS4 I can go full throttle the second I start it.

it sounds like your not leting your engine get hot enough let your engine idle for 5 mins the a high speed pass or 2 then try it. the engine is not verry powerfull when its cold

Already did that. The engine is very fast the second I turn it on. But even if it wasn't, when shifting to second gear, it shouldn't sound like it slips all the time.

ttoks explanation sounds more logical. If the slipper clutch has to come to a temperature, and I don't let it get there, then it would cause this.
