Default Big Block Tmaxx engine???

Hi,
Im going to get a FLM bb conversion for my tmaxx and I can't decide what engine to get?
I dont want to go over $200. I was thinking about a mach 427 or a axial .28?
Any info would help.

another engine that you might want to take a look at is the xtm 24.7,this engine is inexpensive,is often overlooked as an option,i have one in my.21 conv. t-maxx,its a good solid engine, pulls wheelies out of the hole, great top end,and its almost as hassle free as my o.s. it holds a great tune

I run an Orion Wasp .28 in mine. Its cheap has lots of power and easy to tune. But if u r gonna run a big block u r gonna need to upgrade your tranny and your diffs.Otherwise you'll be replacing gears every run.I have robinson racing gears with forward only in my tranny and FLM hybrid bulks with Hot Bodies Lightning diffs and i dont have to worry about stripping anything. If u have a 3.3 tranny u might get away with just a forward only conversion for a little while but your stock diffs wont handle it.I would get the FLM diff set with aluminum cups if u r on a budget

I put a Sirio .23 in my TMaxx 2 years ago. The only think I've had to change so far was Robinson steel gear in the rear diff. Every once in a while the axle shafts wold break but that was every few months. You shouldn't need to upgrade the tranny or gears in the tranny. You will have to upgrade to a big block chassis. Dynamite makes a good conversion kit for almost $300 with a very nice Mach .26 That will probably be the cheapest route to take if you don't already have the chassis. here's the link:

I've stripped my tranny gears with a .21 picco drop in motor. And that was only after 2 runs after breaking the motor in.I say run what u got now and upgrade it as it breaks.U will definately find the weak spots with a BB.So dont be disappointed when your Maxx breaks and u have down time with it.The stock componets r not made the handle the torque of a BB

I would say Mach .457 unless you look into the Axial .28RR. I have an STS .30 which I paid $140 for and should spank both of them.

I haven't seen one but it's supposed to be a much better version of the original .28.

firebird02,
What drive shafts are you running?
I was planning on getting flm hybrid bulks and some mugen mbx5 diffs in it.
But can you use those with the stock drive shafts?

I could be wrong but i dont think the Mugen diffs fit in the hybrid bulks.Hot Bodies Lightning diffs and Ofna diffs i know fit for sure.As far as the centers im using the rear dogbone that came with my FLM chassis and im using a UE titanium front dogbone.U cant use the stock center driveshafts with 1/8 buggy gears because the pinion shaft is larger. And besides the stock centers will twist like a pretzel from the torque of a BB.And as far as driveshafts going to the wheels you need to use a good set of cvds or i believe FLM makes a center shaft for the buggy gears that allow u to use stock shafts.Hope that helps and makes sense

But Flm says "Uses 1/8 scale buggy gears" and the Mugen is a 1/8 scale buggy.
And what excactly is Ofna gears? So I can use cvds?
And if anyone has mugen gears in their Maxx, PLEASE post!!!

All 1/8 buggy gears are not the same. And only certain diffs will fit in the bulks.Your best bet would be to go here http://fastlanemachine.com/PublicPor...5/Default.aspx and get the awnser straight from the source
