STOCKER REVO TRAPP'D SPEED!!!
such a nice day and end up trapping the speed of a stock bashing set-up revo,,,last fall i did this and as far as i can remember i got 41 mph then but this time it went pretty good...
so i strapped the radar gun in a camera tripod and point it in a certain angle,,,temp. outside 53 deg.F, engine temp. 160-190 deg F for most of the run, fuel 20% nitro, 16% oil,,, i learned that the most effective fine tuning for HSN is by turning it by 1/16 at a time, greater than this will give big difference in tuning.
best run is 43 mph and and a lot of 40,41, 42 and hi 30's, revo is very consistent in 40's,,,though i have a 1 time pass of 47 mph in the later part of the test but i can't get to that speed again so i'm not considering this speed,,,until a big cut in the front tire occur so i call-off the day,,i'm very impressed of revo,,,,more test to come.
plan [sm=idea.gif]for next test are:
keep it stock
i need little bit harder tires than the stock, the stock tire balloning pretty bad.
i'm thinkin of putting a front spoiler to drop the front end, for better aerodynamics.
clean the truck and lubricate it since i didn't clean it since winter bashing.

Wow thats pretty nice, how long of a run up did you use to aquire top speed?

very nice...I use the exact same gun for radaring my baseball pitching speed...just b/c it was the cheapest to get. However, the other night I was pitching and my stepdad was using the bushnell, and another guy was using some $900 dollar gun. The bushnell was about 3-4 mph slower than the other gun on a cionsistant basis

u know that you will push it farther if you get the temps up in the 260 range...thats where the TRX motors really like to run...260-270

i must agree with that
you stated engine temps of 160f - 190f
those are too low
you should be over 200 at the very least
traxxas actually recommends the 240f range

Tire ballooning helps give you a higher top speed, no need to change the tires.

i just can't raise the temp. higher, if i lean, it started to lean bug,,,maybe the ambient temp. is still cold......or i can wrap the cooling head with foil next time.
youwish,
i run wildcat and i'll take it back it's 15% nitro instead of 20% as i mentioned before and same oil 16%..well, i don't see any thing wrong with 16% oil, actually it's more on safer side...

ok get new fuel..go with atleast 20% with 11-13% oil. when you have 16% oil its overkill and will actually gum stuff up and not run as well. thats one of the reasons why a ton of people switch from topfuel to something else. I personally use Odonnell 30% race blend and i love it. it worked great in my 3.3 and works awsome in my .28 truggy. what are your outside temps? it will actually hurt your engine to be run with temps that low. you need to tune it better and get that engine head wrapped in foil if you cant get your temps about 240.
good luck. do some more speed runs and lets see if you can hit mid-high 40's

any good reasoning bout this, just curious coz i can't think of any except it increase the tire diameter but the down fall is losing tire traction..

RE: STOCKER REVO TRAPP'D SPEED!!!
hey guys, new speed trapped today, it's getting more crazy[sm=bananahead.gif] speed got 48, 46, 45,,,got 1 time pass again of 51mph but this time i'm convienced that this is a true speed, last time i thought when i had a 1 time pass of 47 mph is an error but i just proved it today that it's do able...
so, okay here's the changes wrapped cooling head with foil, engine temp. goes up to 200-250 deg.F with a little bit playing with HSN.
i learned that revo needs more room to attain this speed, i measured the distance from last time it's only 160 ft. then bout 30-50 ft when it shift to 2nd gear, now i tried to launch somewhere 200-250 ft. then bingo got those high speed..
kinda difficult to see the revo from that distance during launching, and the driving at this speed needs more concentration and steady hand...never burnt a plug except the last part when i'm just bashing it and not during the speed trial....i went home with happy face....
btw, i have a witness when doin this,,see pics...

RE: STOCKER REVO TRAPP'D SPEED!!!
i have a stock 2.5 revo, a tmaxx rb323 and an older garmen gps, which records Max speeds. gonna try straping it in under the cage of the maxx lol.
have you though about lowering the revo to cut through the air more?

same thing i gonna do next, strap a gps just to have comparison with radar gun,,pics of gps below....never lowered it yet actually shocks are fully extended and it's in a bashing set-up.,,,post here when u get the speed i'm curious of RB motor.
snoking16,
it really works, but it put some burn stain on the glow plug and piston
